When I did the wholearman challenge, my goal was to cut down on snacking. Not in a means to cut my food intake but merely because it was a pain to not be completely satisfied after a meal and pick away the afternoon.
While the snacking hasn’t subsided, it’s been pretty tamed….until the other day.
Being a guy, there are certain things you’re body goes through which I cannot lay blame on. I’m also past the age of puberty or ‘the growing boy’ excuse. Oh well- I’m going to embrace it and consider it a means of helping my freezer decrease in size.
Yes. That’s the spirit. Big props to Jenn for hosting- whose freezer I wouldn’t mind raiding.
Breakfast- Probably the fluffiest bowl of oatmeal I’ve eaten in quite a while- my cinnamon bun oatmeal recipe but with some shredded coconut mixed through and topped with cream cheese and cinnamon.
Lunch- Recipe experimentation turned mess. Delicious mess.
I’m experimenting with a pumpkin curry style rice dish– I clearly didn’t add enough pumpkin but the rest was delicious- mixed with shredded chicken thighs, carrots, celery and sesame seeds.
Snack #2- From the freezer again- Half of one of these bars and the excess chocolate chips which conveniently fell off. I had no complaints.
Dinner- I pan fried some kettle corn baked potatoes which were left over from a BYO brunch the day before, some tinned mackerel (delicious!) and another recipe attempt of a vegetable souffle…..which kind of failed aesthetically.
Snack #3- The burnt and overcooked copycat subway cookies. I only ate one of them, and it was the most burnt one- which ironically, had the most macadamia nuts in them. Winning.
Snack #4- Freezer burnt ice cream isn’t particularly good but at the end of the day- it’s still ice cream.
I had the remnants of this peanut butter and chocolate ripple ice cream and considered it the best night cap.
So looking back- the snacking wasn’t excessive in terms of quantity and with some better planning I could have probably cut back with more dense snacking but…C’est la vie.
