Guys, I took last week off from the Sass and I’m getting antsy with the amount of sass building up.
Not really actually. While I do have abit of sass, it’s been a busy week so we’ll leave it to the Instagram gems. How has your week been? It’s started turning into an oven here in New York. I’m not going to complain though- Niki sent through some pictures and she’s bundled up panda.
Just a few things to start with- The birthday giveaway is still running- Remember, there are daily entry options. I have an epic recipe to share this week using one of these ingredients- It’s copycat and better than the original.
1. Starting with all things MAN sass, I’ve been fortunate to be partnering up with Schick Hydro® and Social Stars to be sharing some ‘everyday man moments’ over the next couple of months and to #makeitepic! I’ve often spoke about how within the food and healthy food community, being a male blogger has often felt like a minority but c’est la vie…and I don’t hate it.
To open, let’s talk Sundays which start out and continue the same each weekend- Brunching.
As always I started with my typical morning routine on the weekend which involved a shower and of course, a shave with my Schick Hydro® . I’ve been a user of their shaving products for the longest of times, ever since I used to imitate my dad shaving as a kid.
My dad taught me that shaving to me is like aftershave- You pick one brand and stick to it for eternity- A perfect reminder especially around Father’s day.
Note- Buy 2 participating Men’s Schick or Edge products in a single transaction and get 2 Fandango Movie Tickets (up to a $20 total value)
I then headed to Astoria down 30th Avenue where there were a plethora of brunch spots…and a 16 handles yogurt. I met up with two of my mates who I met several years back across my travels. Both are from the south and we’ve all been on the hunt for some good southern food (i.e. THEY were on the hunt and I was just nodding and playing on Instagram).
We started off with a pre brunch beverage at Antika (which was actually a pizzeria). We then went to Sugar Freak which had a long line, and one of my favourite things ever- Po-Boys!
I got the fried chicken cutlet because the waitress said ‘cutlet’ is this really awesome way. It was like COOOOOT-let. (Ignore this sentence).
Although it may not seem as anything special, these are part of my everyday moments and I love each and everyone. I mean, Po-Boys with PRALINE BACON.
The praline bacon reminded me so much of my father who literally would add bacon to anything possible. The fact that this bacon was pimped up too? Bonus. Although I’m far away from my dad right now, eating that bacon on his behalf totally counts as a father’s day present. Right? riiiiiight.
2. Grilled Granola!
Did you guys catch my recipe I shared yesterday? You guys, grilled granola is NOT like Fetch- It’s going to happen. Heck, it DID happen and it’s awesome.
Stay tuned for an epic Summer twist coming your way this week- Think- S’MORES.
In the mean time, make this.
3. GRILLED MAC AND CHEESE.
I promise it’s not as gross as it sounds- My friend was experimenting with it and by experimenting they simply threw it on the grill. It was amazing and I’m going to see if with a few edits, we can have a cheeky Summertime snack on hand.
Their other less than stellar idea involved grilling a whole Apple. Let’s just say not even Snow White the submissive goose would be swayed by it.
4. NetFlix stuck in last century.
“Netflix is the greatest thing ever- You can watch whatever you want, whenever you want.”
So, my roommate has a Netflix subscription but I was under the impression that Netflix was a collation of up to date tv shows and series. However, when I was flicking through it, it was anything but.
Case in point, under ‘Newly Added’ was ‘The OC’.
Maybe it was a Chrismukkah miracle.
5. Instagram Gems- Balance
Is Instagram suddenly going ‘balance’ crazy? Also, this just goes to prove our definition of ‘balance’ really does differ…considerably.
“Balance is having a sandwich one day and eating your greens the next.”
I eat a sandwich everyday. I guess I just fell off the Balance…beam.
“I eat really cleanly during the day and at night, indulge in a sugar free fudgesicle”
I just googled it and they have 30 calories a pop.
“Diet jello tastes exactly like normal jello! Why waste calories on the full sugar kind? It’s the same thing!”
Did you ask your stomach that 2 hours later when it’s in pain?
“I’m vegan, except I eat animal protein and dairy.”
Dude! We’re like the same person!
Have a great start to the week guys- Remember to be balanced. (As long as you don’t constitute diet jello in your definition).
I’m sharing my epic moments thanks to Schick Hydro® as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #MakeItEpic.Cheers, hugs and handshakes for supporting companies and brands which help in making The Big Man’s World continue to grow.
Netflix watchers, are they really delayed?
Would you want a grilled Mac n Cheese hybrid recipe?
Have you ever eaten a Po-Boy?
