You often hear the term thrown around- Blends.
Bloggers and friends. Blends.
Ever since I first entered the blogging community, I was stoked to find like minded people who transitioned over time to friends. Some of them, I’d consider them to be some of the closest people I know. This may seem weird, strange or creepy to some but C’est la vie- That’s life.
Over the last few months, I think I’ve grown as an individual and matured. As this blog has grown and I’ve found myself devoting more time, effort and love into this- I’ve come to the realisation that my time off it is important- Heck, it’s necessary. It also taught me as much as I love blogging and all facets of it (even the less discussed, taboo ones), I don’t want to discuss blogging 24/7.
It was through some harsh but necessary lessons for me to reach this realisation. Lessons which I’m ridiculously grateful for because it brought things back to bases of how these virtual friendships were formed in the first place.
As much as I love blogging and love that I can call this a ‘job’ or ‘career’ per se- I am not defined exclusively by this blog nor do I want to be. I wake up every morning eternally grateful for it and where it has lead me today but there’s more to me than what is written here. I’ve also realised that as much as I love my blogging friends, I truly believe there is an other tier- A tier in which only a few fall into.
I love blogging and all facets of it (even the less discussed, taboo ones) but I don’t want life to always be blogging 24/7. While I feel fortunate to have met so many amazing people through this social platform, there are really only a fair few whom I can confidently call friends beyond blogging..and I mean BEYOND blogging- Beyond a digital identity.
These are my friends whom I DON’T feel like without blogging, we’d hit a dead end.
These are my friends who I randomly call up on a Monday afternoon for a quick chat which turns to conversing into the evening including cooking on the phone and eating dinner on the phone…Because we were discussing certain shows on a certain channel *cough* bravo *cough*
These are my friends whom in the middle of discussing food processors, we can delve straight into a heart to heart about our families, our pressure growing up and how wine on a weeknight in standard.
These are my friends who we can vent about contractors and how living in Italy for the Summer should be a standard procedure.
These are my friends whom I can call colorful names which I could probably end up in Jail for should I write it out here.
These are my friends who I can vent to about family problems and end in discussing how margarine should be banned.
These are my friends who send me messages during the day of them in overalls. These are the friends I reply back to saying I’d unfriend them if they purchased said overalls.
I truly cherish each and every connection I’ve made through the blog. However, there’s more to Arman than just blogging, recipes and this little space on the internet…and I like that. These are my friends I met through blogging but they aren’t ‘blends’ or ‘blogging friends’ whom if it weren’t for blogging, we’d be two strangers.
They’re just friends…and I like that.
You often here those who blog full time or even part time say that they live and breath their blogs and as true as that is- There IS a life outside of it and that is imperative for a healthy mind, body, soul and Ben and Jerry’s.
Ben and Jerry’s which you’d be willing to plank at a bar for.
Definitely worth planking at a bar for.
Apologies if this is all over the place. No specific questions. Your thoughts welcome. Ben and Jerry’s will also be welcomed.
