As someone who shares recipes on a regular basis, I thrive off feedback- Both positive and negative.
There is a popular assumption that when you receive negative reviews or comments, it should immediately be deleted, forgotten about or cried over. At one stage, this negative feedback did cut a little bit deep.
“Why didn’t they like the recipe?”
“Why don’t they like my writing style?”
“Why am I so beautiful?”
Um. Excuse the last one. My inner Channing Tatum temporarily popped out.
However, over time, I’ve come to really appreciate feedback on recipe posts- Especially the ones which offer constructive criticism or suggestions they have personally made which worked better for them. These help me improve recipes moving forward and trying out different ingredients- Something I personally love doing.
Then, there are the odd comments which do deserve to be thrown in the trash.
“Your sister has a big nose.”
“Stop making no-bake recipes!”
“You like to bake? You must be a fag.”
“Hello, Arman. Please clean your room.”
Um. Excuse the last one there too. My mum finds typing messages via computer easier than using her phone.
Ironically, today’s recipe was named ‘brownies’ after feedback from quite a few readers who made a similar version of this recipe- The 3 Ingredient No Bake Pumpkin Fudge. I guess the reasoning for me calling it ‘fudge’ was because of the shape, the soft texture but in hindsight- Calling it fudge was a poor choice. However, the majority of responses said that while they did enjoy the taste, it was more ‘brownie’ like.
After making this recipe, getting my friends to taste it and to give their feedback too, it is indeed more ‘brownie’ like than ‘fudge’ so voila- A healthy 3 ingredient No Bake Applesauce Brownie!
These healthy no-bake applesauce brownies are a quick and easy snack or treat option to make, which only take five minutes to whip up! Unlike traditional baked brownies, these are softer, slightly more doughy and similar to a brownie batter with a more dense texture. While these are virtually fat free, I did test one batch out with a tiny bit of peanut butter and it gave it a more rich texture, so I do recommend that (Or any nut butter of choice!). Naturally gluten-free, vegan and paleo, feel free to add a scoop of protein powder and some oat flour and you’ll have a recipe similar to these Apple Pie Protein Bars!
While homemade applesauce is always a winner (I tried Alexis’ one the other day and….damn it was amazing!), I opted to use a store bought one in which the only ingredients were apples and cinnamon. Please read the labels carefully- I read one ‘natural’ one which had HFCS and apple flavorings only. Um. Pass.
Make these healthy, easy 3 ingredient No Bake Applesauce brownies and for all of you who have ever made a recipe and offered some constructive criticism or feedback- Thank you- it’s much appreciated.
You’re beautiful.
That was my inner Channing Tatum again. Sorry.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coconut flour sifted

Fudge, brownies, whatever…It’s all no-bake deliciousness!
Right? Thanks!
Home made apple sauce is a must in mi casa. I have apples from Ohio that are ready to be turned into the mushy goodness, then perhaps turned into THESE!
Oh what? You’ll need to share the recipe!
Constructive criticism when we’re open to hearing can allows us to grow and improve. It’s hard though because so many people are not open to hearing it or it’s delivered incorrectly. Kudos to you for being willing to listen.
🙂 Thanks pickle
But where’s the cocoa? 😛 Did I ever tell you about the time I ate 8 apples worth of homemade applesauce in one day? I don’t recommend it 😯
OH geebuz………
Love the simplicity of this recipe!! Brownies are my fav – no matter what shape, size, or color. If it’s called a brownie, I want to be eating it 🙂
Hahaha thanks Whit!
Who would have the nerve to comment on your sexuality?! And what does it matter to them anyways???? If I received a comment regarding my race I’d probably privately message them saying SHUT THE EFF UP GO HOME YOU’RE DRUNK! XD but that’s just me! I receive constructive criticism well, unless if it’s by my parents for some odd reason!
Anyways, these look more like blondies, but they’re with applesauce, so go figure!
Right? Thanks Cassie!
Through my personal training and group fitness career, I’ve learned to welcome all sorts of criticism. I think growing older has also made me less sensitive to negative feedback. I read a book recently called The Four Agreements and one of them is to “not take anything personally” – the negative crap that people say to us is not a reflection of us, but of THEM; what they’re going through in their life, their insecurities, etc. It was cool to read!
Side note: you not only create perfectly shaped treats, but the perfect bites are taken out of them too. Okay bye.
🙂 Thanks for the recommendation- Off to check it out now 🙂
I used to be such a baby about constructive criticism when I was younger (…when I was literally a baby, I guess). In the past few years, especially with blogging, I think I’ve learned to be open to constructive criticism, knowing when to take it to heart and when to take it with a grain of salt. Like when people say I talk about peanut butter and alien brussels sprouts too much.
I am totally craving these applesauce blondies right now. Like, AGH.
Looks yummy! Can I sub coconut flour for all purpose or whole wheat?
Totally lol’d, you’re funny! I don’t have unsweetened apple sauce on hand, sweetened will do, right? Making this for my friend and me tonight. He eats gluten free and I eat vegan. Total winner this, thanks 😀
I have a 1 yr old chrome book and high speed internet and these video adverts made it very difficult for me to see this page. The only reason I did not give up, entirely, is because I like the recipe of yours that I have previously tried. I just thought I’d let you know, if they are slowing the page down so that I can’t get to the recipe, I usually just close the window and head back to pinterest for another.
Hi Deb- I’m so sorry about that, it’s been an issue with my ad network for a while now- Those video ads randomly take place! I’ll inform them and hopefully it will be eradicated 🙂
Hi Arman! First time commenting (because everything turns out so damn good that I don’t have to)! I just restocked my coconut flour and am looking forward to making these, as well as the pumpkin version and probably a bunch more no-bake recipes… sounds like I’ll have to invite some people over for sharing!
One thing I notice in a lot of your recipes is that you don’t specify the size of the baking dish you use. Would it be a pain to include that in future recipes? For all your bar recipes, are you using 8×8 or 9×13? Thank you so much!
Can you use any other kind of flour other than coconut?
Hi Alison! I’d recommend almond flour as the best substitute followed by oat, but I’ve not tried either- You’ll need to probably add way more flour than coconut though 🙂
Will this work if you subsittue the suger for sweetner? what makes it stiff up in the fridge?
This looks so good! What a simple recipe too. I’ll have to try it. I wonder if you could sub in some pumpkin for some applesauce for a seasonal flavor!
Hey Hayley! I actually just published a seasonal one using pumpkin- It’s the 3 ingredient no bake pumpkin fudge 🙂
