The ULTIMATE list of breakfast recipes which could totally pass as dessert- Brownies, cakes, cookies, bars and smoothies which are all secretly healthy- Paleo, vegan, gluten free and sugar free options!
Dessert for breakfast has become commonplace in my neck of the woods.
It started out a few years ago when I first introduced to oatmeal. Not sure why, but mum never brought me and my sister up on it. Actually, she did once when I was twelve and I asked her why we were being fed baby food.
Niki asked if we were reenacting Oliver and she was being fed gruel. Gruel she would NOT be asking more of.
Most blogs tend to have a mission statement. It could be motivating you to reach your fitness goals. It could be motivating you to lose weight via nutrition. It could be providing you strictly paleo recipes. It could be providing you a range of culinary delights. It could be embracing all things chocolate.
While my mission statement could encompass a broad spectrum of interests, I would love to be your personal cheerleader to embrace having dessert for breakfast- Or rather, healthy breakfasts which taste just like dessert. It’s often misunderstood that sweet breakfasts are calorie bombs, chock full of sugar and result in an 11am slump. However, with some epic recipes and cheeky substitutions, I’m able to replicate a range of my favourite desserts and sweet treats into a wholesome healthy breakfast choice.
The best part? All of these are SO easy to whip up, are mostly single serving and taste like their namesake- No false advertising here. All are gluten free, however most also come with a vegan/paleo/dairy free or combination of all options.
Caramel Cookie Dough Oatmeal (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
The taste and texture of cookie dough with hints of caramel- This oatmeal actually works well baked too!
Key ingredients- Rolled oats | Non Dairy Caramel Chips | Coconut Flour | Coconut Sugar
Chocolate Chunk Baked Breakfast Cookies (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
Check out those chunks…..These can be made single serve or if you like, whip up a batch of 4 or 8 and be prepped for multiple breakfasts. One caveat- YOU NEED CHUNKS.
Key ingredients- Oat Flour | Dairy Free Chocolate Chunks | Cocoa Powder | Coconut Sugar
Hazelnut Espresso Granola (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)

No Bake Paleo Breakfast Cookie Dough (Paleo, Vegan, Gluten Free)
Paleo is often associated with the opposite of anything sweet- However, I’ve found it easier and easier to adapt recipes to be paleo friendly! This paleo breakfast cookie dough was what started many! It’s single serve and ridiculously filling with an amazing texture!
Key ingredients- Coconut Flour | Coconut Sugar | Cocoa Powder
No Bake Vanilla Cake Batter Breakfast Cookies (Paleo, Vegan, Gluten Free)
Soft, chewy and just like fudge, these cake batter breakfast cookies are ridiculously delicious. I love freezing them and thawing them for about 10 minutes before eating- Trust me on this one!

Tiramisu Oatmeal (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
For long term readers, you know tiramisu is something I am just mildly obsessed with! This oatmeal has a delicious, fluffy texture with a bitter meets sweet taste replicating the dessert!

keto pancakes (Gluten Free, High Protein)
An Australian iconic cookie transferred into a fluffy (huge!) stack of pancakes! These are filling, taste like the cookie but the same caloric content of one cookie. One cookie or one huge stack? I’ll take the latter.
Key ingredients- Rolled oats | Non Dairy Caramel Chips | Coconut Flour
Cinnamon Bun Pancakes (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
These pancakes were made in spite because Australia had no Cinnabon. Now that I’m here where there are several around, my cravings have been zilch thanks to these. I tried them with dairy free cream cheese and it was epic!
Key ingredients- Oat flour | Saigon Cinnamon | Coconut Flour
Nutella Breakfast Cookie Dough (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
What was made for Niki, turned into one of my all time favourite breakfasts (and most made!). The 10 minute cook time coupled with the chocolate chips and rich cocoa taste, it goes SO well with coffee!
Key ingredients- Rolled oats | Oat bran| Non Dairy Chocolate Chips | Cocoa Powder
Fluffy Black Forest Pancakes (Vegan, Gluten Free, High Protein)
No, those aren’t pillows. They are pancakes. One of my favourite cakes HAD to be made into pancakes! Like the cinnamon bun ones, I tried this with So Delicious coconut cream and … just do it.
Key ingredients- Coconut Flour | Coconut Sugar | Cocoa Powder
Next time your confused as to what to have for breakfast, call me up and I’ll get my pom poms out.

I have always been a sweet tooth. I prefer dessert for breakfast AND lunch. Makes me the happiest!
🙂 I can’t wait to hang out!
Great roundup! Thanks for sharing!
Very welcome Florian 🙂 I mean, Danke-Shun
I’m all about the dessert for breakfast life! 😉
BEST. EVER.
I grew up eating oatmeal occasionally, but it was always the Quaker flavoured kind, which isn’t really anything special. Starting to make oatmeal from scratch with my own mix ins was definitely a game changer. I’m all about the breakfasts that taste like dessert now!
Right? Although I would kill for your delicious hash 😉
Aaaaah I comletely forgot about the granola though it was one of my favorites. Thanks for bringing it back to my mind! I love oatmeal and pancakes for breakfast though I am on a sandwich kick lately. I could never warm to the concept of cookies for breakfast but who says you can’t have breakfast cookies anytime of the day 😉
YES! Thanks so much for making it my dear 🙂
Oh man, the kiwi would be in heaven if i actually made all these for him. Wanna come for visit instead? 😉
YES. How about YOU? You need this too. But you need me more.
What a perfect Sunday morning post 🙂 I could drool over it for hours! I totally have to make those cake batter breakfast cookies, I think generally I’m more cookie than pancake, but that’s probably because I suck at flipping pancakes. Coffee cake or muffins maybe?
ooh yes! When we meet up, I’ll make you a paleo version 🙂
I’ll take a bite or three of all of these right now for breakfast, thanks. I ALWAYS have a sweet component of my breakfast, if not an all sweet breakfast. Mornings are hard enough— why not give yourself a little dessert to get you out of bed, am I right? Summer bucket list item: Make at least five of your breakfast recipes.
Favorite sweet breakfast: Paaaaaancakes!
I have a little goody package for you when I see you 🙂
Dessert for breakfast, always!
You said it! 🙂
I feel like a potluck with all of these recipes should happen very soon. 😉
Please do Maureen!
This is like my dream post of breakfast recipes Arman! My husband is gluten-free (me dairy-free), and both of us tend to crave sweet in the morning, but can’t do sugary items. These are all so perfect!
Not even kidding, you’ve motivated me to make all my future recipes completely dairy free too- They’ve been gluten free since August last year so excited for this challenge!
Aw, that’s so awesome! Well on behalf of the dairy-free community, we really appreciate having your recipes as options!!
What a fantastic post! You are definitely a man after my heart…and stomach. I LOVE all these recipes. Perfect way to begin any day. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Marsha! Of course- very welcome! 🙂
I’m not going to lie, these all look fantastic, and I still love your savory breakfasts more like those Sweet Potato Pancakes or your Pesto packed Waffles. Mmm, I’m getting hungry thinking about them.
I will make them for you in person 🙂
Such a great round-up of yummy breakfast recipes! I will definitely be making a lot of these recipes soon!
Please do, Joanne!
MY favorite sweet breakfast will always be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I cannot get over that amazing combination!
I am craving one now!
