These homemade butterfinger bites need just three ingredients to make and taste like the popular candy bar, except in bite-sized pieces!

Butterfinger is one of the most popular candies. It features a crisp peanut butter bar covered in chocolate.

Inspired by the candy of the same name, these 3-ingredient Butterfinger balls feature creamy and decadent bites that are quick to make and are perfect for any party or gathering.

Why you’ll love these butterfinger bites

  • Only 3 ingredients. These Butterfinger balls help achieve the rich peanut butter flavor of the famous chocolate bar with just a few ingredients.
  • No-bake bites. You don’t need to use the oven for this recipe. Just whip up the peanut butter mixture, form the balls, and refrigerate them for half an hour.
  • Perfect for any occasion. These Butterfinger balls can be decorated to fit any occasion, including Christmas, Halloween, and any themed party.

If you are hunting for a no-bake treat that’s easy to make and doesn’t require much effort, then these Butterfinger balls are what you should make next.

Ingredients needed

You need three simple ingredients to make Butterfinger balls. Here’s what you’ll need.

  • Cornflake cereal. To add crunch and some sweetness to the peanut butter mixture.
  • Peanut butter. Creamy peanut butter, not the crunchy kind.
  • Vanilla frosting. You can use store-bought vanilla frosting or make it yourself. The frosting should be at room temperature when you start making the bites.
  • Sprinkles (optional). To coat the Butterfinger balls and make them look more festive.

How to make Butterfinger bites

  1. Crush the cornflakes. You can use a blender, food processor, or a bag and a rolling pin to crush them into a fine powder. Make sure to leave some larger bits for texture.
  2. Make the bite mixture. In a large mixing bowl, stir the vanilla frosting with the crushed cornflake cereal and mix well. Melt the peanut butter in 20 second intervals until melted. Add it to the vanilla frosting and cereal mixture.
  3. Roll into balls. Using your hands, shape the mixture into bite-sized pieces. Put the peanut butter balls on a prepared baking sheet and refrigerate them for around 30 minutes.

Tips to make the best recipe

  • Coat with cocoa. If you don’t have sprinkles at home or want to avoid using excess sugar, roll the Butterfinger balls in unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Cover in chocolate. If you have extra time, melt some dark or milk chocolate chips. Cover the Butterfinger balls in melted chocolate after refrigerating them for 30 minutes. Allow the chocolate to set before you serve the peanut butter balls.
  • Use chunky peanut butter. While the cornflake cereal does add some crunch to these Butterfinger balls, using crunchy peanut butter is another way to add texture to these bites.
  • Make it vegan. Use vegan frosting to make these dairy free.

Storage instructions

To store: It is best to keep these Butterfinger balls refrigerated. Store them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

To freeze: You can also freeze these Butterfinger balls for up to 2 months.

    1. Hi Stella! Any frosting would work, I’d go with a thicker one or refrigerate the truffles once formed into balls

  1. YURMMMM! I totally should have made these for Halloween 🙁 too busy watching Crimson Peak haha! (note: not exactly worth it) but I can definitely just make these babies for the heck of it! What are the types of candy brands in Australia?

  2. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a butterfinger bar, but man were they the bomb. Bart Simpson’s favorite too.

  3. You know that I almost forgot it was Hallyween this weekend? I need kids or something. And back in the day I would have said that Twix was my absolute favourite, but now I’m probably going to go with KitKats since Twix went ahead and decided to have traces of peanuts. Jerks.

  4. How about you dress up as a giant Butterfinger handing out these BEtterfinger bites ;)?
    This candy bar talk is unfair because I wouldn’t know any exciting options to boast with. Milka and Ritter Sport [chocolate] bars aside I can’t really think of a popular German candy bar. Maybe you know better thanks to your friend from Hamburg?? (;

  5. I prefer Reese’s cups over Butterfinger – for some reason butterfinger filling always gets stuck in my teeth! Regardless, I’d inhale a batch of these.

  6. Apart from some sweets in the supermarket, I haven’t really seen anything Halloween themed over here in Aus – I guess it’s just not that big a deal? Even in the UK it was a lot more of a ‘thing’.
I tried a Reece’s peanut butter cup the other day… Kinda disappointed… I can’t believe that the Quest protein version is actually nicer! Maybe its because they make them a little saltier and me like salt! Haha!

    1. It really isn’t- Which is kind of a good thing! Oh no! You’ll need to try the justin’s ones, they are great!

  7. Love Butterfingers. I once made my own homemade ones with that 2 or 3 ingredient recipe that’s floating around the internet but these sound far healthier…and in balls form. Yup winning!

  8. Arman, it seems you have forgotten the wonders of the Cherry Ripe – a quintessential Australian chocolate bar. Plus, America does not have Caramello Koalas! 🙂

  9. I love seeing you get so excited about the candy bars and novelties here!!! Butterfingers are terrific, love the recipe you conjured up.

  10. Ben and Jerry’s has *just* hit WA, and the prices are insane! $14 for a pint! And my friends were all lapping it up, literally. The best American chocolate I ever had was a one pound peanut butter cup. It was gigantic and amazing.

  11. I would expect NOTHING less of you!

And um, my blog is showcasing my favorite candy from when I was younger today.

Great minds think alike? YEP. And I mean, we are just connected – DUH.

  12. These look amazing Arman! I think mixing up the flavor of frosting would be added deliciousness. Using strawberry frosting could make a PB&J butterfinger (which I’ve always fantasized about)
For Halloween I’m going to be the girl from Finding Nemo with the pigtails and braces who shakes the fish at the dentist. 🙂

  13. Butterfinger is one of my favorite candies. I can’t believe this is only three ingredients and was even more surprised when you said Flatout. Isn’t it crazy what you can come up with?

  14. Flatbread turned into butterfinger balls = genius. I always like the candy that no one else wants, but I’ve definitely enjoyed some butterfingers!

  15. Dear Arman, Butterfingers are one of my favorites! …Don’t remind me though, I have a big bag hidden away for Halloween and I’m trying to keep away from it. These butterfinger bites are right up my alley.I love how quick and easy they are and without all that added sugar. I have to make these. Have a great day my friend, Catherine

  16. Wait. Why are you making fun of apples? I would have gladly come to your house for an apple, but now that you’re making fun of them…no apples. You’d probably be the witch that’d give me a poisoned apple, wouldn’t you? Fine, I guess I’ll just settle for a whole box of these butterfinger bites instead!

  17. butterfingers and twix are my number ones but I’m sure there are 10000000 more i have never tried since america has tons of different variations on chocolate! these little bites are perfect for halloween!

  18. I’m glad you like our candy selection, Arman. We like your Butterfingers Bites! Butterfingers has to be one of my absolute favorites candy bars, haven’t had one in years. These bites look irresistible!
