My air fryer whole chicken is crispy, juicy, and cooks in under an hour. It's my family's shortcut to a Sunday roast. Watch the video below to see how I make it in my kitchen.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, Rosemary, and mustard powder. Rub the spices all over the chicken.
Place the chicken in the air fryer breast side down. Air fry for 25 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 25 minutes. Once the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, remove it from the air fryer.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before carving.

Notes
Chicken size and cooking time: I break this down in my post. Continue air frying until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Trussed chicken: To truss a chicken, tie the legs together with kitchen twine and tuck the wings underneath the body. Here’s a great guide on Masterclass with video and step-by-step instructions.
Leftovers: Keep in the fridge for 5 days or the freezer for 3 months.
Reheating: For best results, reheat chicken in the air fryer at 350°F until the skin is crisp.
