My coconut milk smoothie is so smooth, thick, and creamy that you won’t believe it’s low-carb! Made with just 3 ingredients, it’s perfect for a filling and satisfying breakfast or snack!

The easiest coconut milk smoothie

Do you know what my secret is to the creamiest coconut smoothie ever? Frozen coconut chunks. I first spotted them at Trader Joe’s (an American grocery store) in 2015, and they have been a staple in my morning smoothies ever since. They blend up thick and creamy (like in my coconut ice cream), adding natural sweetness, healthy fats, and a rich tropical flavor you just don’t get from coconut milk.
My smoothie uses coconut in two ways: frozen coconut chunks and unsweetened coconut milk. I tested it with both canned and carton coconut milk, and both work beautifully, depending on how rich you want it. Add a touch of sweetener, blend until smooth, and you’ve got the best 3-ingredient coconut smoothie.
Ingredients needed
This smoothie is as simple as it gets. Frozen coconut chunks, unsweetened coconut milk (full-fat or light), and either some allulose, sugar, or maple syrup. I also recommend adding some ice, which thickens the smoothie beautifully.
How to make a coconut smoothie
In a high-speed blender, add your coconut milk, sweetener, and coconut chunks until smooth. Next, add the ice and blend until the desired thickness is achieved. Now, pour into glasses and enjoy!

Arman’s recipe tips
- Use fresh coconut chunks. Most grocery stores stock them (in the freezer aisle next to the frozen fruit), but if you can’t find any, fresh chunks of coconut meat will work.
- Adjust the sweetness. I prefer my smoothies not overly sweet, so I’m using just a touch of sweetener. If you prefer a super sweet smoothie, add more.
- Canned versus carton coconut milk. Canned coconut milk is naturally richer and higher in fat than carton coconut milk. I typically use it from a carton, but if you’d like a super-rich smoothie, opt for the canned variety.
Frozen meal prep hack
I like to use a fun meal prep trick I learned in culinary school! If you make a big batch of the smoothie, you can pour it into ziplock bags and keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. When you are ready to enjoy one, place the frozen smoothie block into the blender and re-blend until smooth. Don’t add extra ice, though!

Coconut Milk Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons allulose or any sugar/liquid sweetener like maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 cup coconut chunks fresh or frozen
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- In a high speed blender, add your coconut milk, sweetener, and coconut chunks and blend well, until combined. Add the ice and blend until the desired thickness and texture is achieved.
- Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy.
Notes
- Coconut milk: Carton coconut milk is lower calorie and has a thin consistency, which is fine for this smoothie. Canned coconut milk is richer and has a higher fat content. Use whichever you prefer.
- Sweetener: Any sweetener (granulated or liquid) works. My rule of thumb is one tablespoon per cup of coconut milk.
