If you use your air fryer as much as I do, why not make freshly baked cookies with it?

Lately I’ve been obsessed with making my air fryer cookies. Not only is it speedy and effortless, but it makes for extra chewy cookies with the perfect crumb and gooey chocolate chips.

Why I love this recipe

  • 7 minutes of cooking time. And only 10 minutes if you include prep time. That’s half the time of traditional cookies!
  • Versatile. Once you get the hang of air frying cookies, you can actually air fry ANY cookie. Yes, even my Biscoff cookies!
  • No pre-heating required. Granted you do have to refrigerate the cookie dough, but if you make it ahead of time, you don’t have to wait long.
  • Perfect for small-batch desserts. If you own an air fryer, you know the cooking space can be quite limiting. This works as an advantage for desserts since you can only make several at one time. Hello, portion control.

★★★★★ REVIEW

“Obsessed with these air fryer cookies. They are so soft and chewy!!”Helly

air fryer chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients needed

  • All-purpose flour. Also known as plain or white flour. Sift the flour well to ensure there are no clumps, and use gluten-free flour if needed.
  • Baking soda. The leavening agent that gives the cookies some rise and helps from overspreading.
  • Salt. Just a pinch to bring out the sweetness.
  • White and brown sugar. White sugar helps keep the edges crisp and firm, whereas brown sugar keeps the cookie soft and chewy in the middle.
  • Butter. Preferably unsalted butter from a stick, not a tub, since the latter often has water added and can affect the texture of the cookies.
  • Milk. I used unsweetened almond milk, but any milk works.
  • Vanilla extract. A must for any good cookie!
  • Chocolate chips. I used milk chocolate chips, but use any kind you like, be it dark chocolate or white chocolate chips, or a mixture of all three.

How to make air fryer cookies

I’ve included step-by-step photos below to make this recipe easy to follow at home. For the full printable recipe instructions and ingredient quantities, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step 1- Mix the wet and dry ingredients. In a small bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Cream the butter and sugars together in a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.

Step 2- Make the cookie dough. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined. Stir through the chocolate chips.

Step 3- Shape. Line an air fryer basket with parchment paper. Using a cookie scoop, roll out 12 balls of cookie dough.

Step 4- Bake. Place 3-4 cookie dough balls into the air fryer basket, leaving room for the cookies to spread. Air fry the cookies at 170C/325F for 7-8 minutes or until the edges are slightly firm.

Step 5- Cool. Remove the cookies from the air fryer basket and let sit for five minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to continue cooling, then continue air frying the remaining cookies.

Arman’s recipe tips

  • Air fry in batches. The cookies need enough room to spread or else they won’t cook all the way.
  • For thicker cookies, refrigerate the dough for at least an hour.
  • Don’t skip the rest time. Letting the cookies rest in the basket keeps them from breaking. Plus, they’ll continue to firm up as they cool.
  • Keep an eye on the cookies. Everyone’s air fryer is a bit different. If your cookies feel raw, continue air frying them in one-minute intervals until done.
  • Switch up the mix-ins. Swap chocolate chips for walnuts, shredded coconut, candy buttons, or peanut butter chips.

Storage instructions

To store: Leftover cookies can be stored at room temperature, covered, for at least a week.

To freeze: Place the air fried cookies in a ziplock bag and store them in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Frequently asked questions

Can you use aluminum foil in an air fryer for cookies?

Aluminium foil and parchment paper both can be used in an air fryer. However, for cookies, parchment paper works much better, as the cookies never stick to the bottom.

I don’t have an air fryer. Can I bake these in the oven?

Yes, this recipe can be baked in the oven. Prepare the cookie dough as instructed. After it has chilled, preheat an oven to 180C/350F. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just firm.

    Thanks for sharing.
I made these yesterday and they were delicious. I accidentally used baking powder instead of soda (which I don’t think affected anything) and i added a couple splashes of Strega.

I loved this recipe so much!! It’s so easy to make and taste absolutely amazing, hands down the best thing i’ve ever made. I’m awful at making food, but this honestly turned out really good. :>

Followed the recipe and made some adjustments based on what I had and the cookies did not spread, but worked extremely well when I followed it down to the bit. Although if you wanted a crunchier exterior chewier inside I suggest you bake at 170°C and 9 minutes (although they’re darker). But if you want a good crunch but softer chew, follow as written. Awesome recipe.

Hi this recipe is fabulous. It’s easy and extremely tasty. Crispy on the outside and chewy inside. I’m going to improvise and put sea salt flakes. Thanks for sharing!!!!

  8. I love your recipes but I can’t figure out how many grams of sugar in a serving. Your recipes don’t include it

  9. Hi, I just bought an air fryer and made these. Absolutely delicious but they didn’t cook underneath so had to flip them half way through?
    Thanks!

  10. I found a recipe online somewhere for Keto all-purpose flour. I think I’ll give it a try. I ordered the Oat Fiber Flour and I’m waiting for it to come in. Here’s the recipe if you want it:

    All-Purpose Flour:
    3 cups Fine Almond Flour,
    1 cup Coconut Flour,
    1/2 cup Whey Protein Isolate,
1/2 cup Oat Fiber Flour Not “Oat Flour”!,
    4 TBL Xantham Gum,

Mix all of the ingredients and store in airtight container. Use a 1:1 ration when a recipe calls for All Purpose Flour.
Make large batches so you always have some handy!
