Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

Make hard boiled eggs perfectly in the air fryer. The result is eggs that cook quickly, peel easily, and require no babysitting whatsoever. A delicious, high-protein addition to any meal.

My partner and I enjoy hard-boiled eggs almost every day: for breakfast, quick lunches, or just a high-protein snack between meals. To save time, I started cooking them in the air fryer, and honestly, I haven’t looked back.
There’s no boiling water, no guessing the timing, and no babysitting the pot. Just perfectly cooked eggs with firm, creamy centers and easy-to-peel shells- every single time.
And yes, they’re completely safe to cook this way! After testing in all three (yes, three) of my air fryers to get the temperature and timing down, I found the sweet spot. This recipe is specifically for hard-boiled eggs, but if you prefer the texture of a runny yolk, try my air fryer soft boiled eggs.
Arman’s tips before starting

Don’t adjust the temperature. This is my #1 tip. I’ve tested this recipe at various temperatures and found 275°F to be the best. If you try to make it too hot, you risk the eggs cracking and resulting in a rubbery texture.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Arrange them in a single layer with a little space between each one. The hot air needs to circulate around each egg for even cooking.
Adjust the cooking time to suit your yolks. The timing in this recipe will give you classic hard-boiled eggs with fully set yolks. If you prefer a jammy center, reduce the cook time to around 11 minutes. For soft-boiled eggs, aim for 9 minutes.
Don’t have room-temperature eggs? If your eggs are straight from the fridge, place them in a bowl of lukewarm water for 5 minutes before air frying. This helps them cook more evenly.
Don’t skip the ice bath. I know it’s tempting, but this step makes a huge difference. Not only do the eggs cool much faster, but they also peel far more easily.

How to make hard boiled eggs in the air fryer
This is an overview with step-by-step photos. Full ingredients & instructions are in the recipe card below.

Step 1- Place eggs in a preheated air fryer basket and air fry for about 13 minutes.

Step 2– Carefully place the eggs in a bowl of cold water and let them rest for 5 minutes. Then peel or refrigerate.
Frequently asked questions
Peeling eggs is somewhat of an art form. To get the perfect peel, gently crack the egg at the base, then look for the membrane as you peel. Go slowly and run the egg underwater to remove the tiny bits of shell.
You can, but you really don’t need to! All my air fryers held the eggs perfectly fine and none of them cracked at all.
I don’t recommend freezing boiled eggs. I found that once they were thawed, the whites were rubbery and the yolks crumbled.
Place leftover (unpeeled) eggs in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge for up to one week. If the eggs are peeled, I suggest enjoying them within 4 days.

Ingredients
- 4 eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 135C/275F.
- Arrange the eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they’re not overcrowded. I can cook up to 12 eggs in my air fryer.
- Air fry for 13 1/2 minutes.
- Immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water and let them sit for 5 minutes before peeling.
Notes
- For jammy eggs: I recommend removing them from the air fryer at the 11 minute mark.
- Peeling tip: I like to gently tap the egg and roll it between my fingers for easy removal.
- Storage: Place leftover (unpeeled) eggs in an airtight container and keep in the fridge for 4-5 days. Peeled eggs will stay fresh for up to four days.
