My peanut butter cornflake bars make a delicious no bake dessert that combines the irresistible flavor of peanut butter with the satisfying crunch of cornflakes.

Twenty years later, these no bake bars aren’t just reserved for parties anymore- they make a fabulously quick and easy dessert too.

Why I love this recipe
- It’s only 3 ingredients. You need three pantry staples to make these bars. They don’t contain any dairy or gluten.
- Takes 5 minutes to make. Simply mix all ingredients and let the bars set. You won’t have to worry about snacks for the coming days.
- It doesn’t have added sugar. These cornflake bars are sweetened with pure maple syrup to avoid refined sugar. No corn syrup is needed.

Ingredients needed
- Corn flakes. This simple cereal provides a lot of crispiness and allows the peanut butter flavor to shine through.
- Peanut butter. Both homemade and store-bought peanut butter will work so long as it is smooth. Avoid using peanut butter with added sugar.
- Maple syrup. I use pure maple syrup. It helps sweeten the bars and makes the cornflakes sticky enough to be shaped into bars.
How to make peanut butter cornflake bars
I’ve included step-by-step photos below to make this recipe easy to follow at home. For the full printable recipe instructions and ingredient quantities, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Step 1- Make the mixture. Melt the peanut butter and maple syrup in the microwave. Pour this mixture over the cornflakes and mix until fully combined. If the mixture is not sticky enough, add more maple syrup.
Step 2- Set. Transfer the sticky cornflake mixture to a pan lined with parchment paper. Wet your hands and start pressing down the cornflakes in an even layer. Press firmly and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm. Slice into bars and serve.
Arman’s recipe tips
- Swap the peanut butter. Any smooth nut butter you have will work, like almond butter. If you are allergic to nuts, use sunflower seed butter instead.
- Switch the sweetener. You can use honey or any sticky sweetener of your choice to sweeten these bars. Light corn syrup and agave nectar will work too.
- Replace the cornflakes. If you don’t have cornflakes at home, substitute them with another simple cereal you have at hand.
- Use a sharp wet knife to slice the bars, to avoid the bars breaking apart.
Storage instructions
To store. Store cornflake bars in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. You can keep these bars at room temperature if you want them to be extra gooey.
To freeze. Freeze individually wrapped crunch bars for up to 2 months. Bring the bars to room temperature before eating them.
Frequently asked questions
Cornflake bars may not stick together if you have added less syrup than needed. Another reason why they won’t stick together is not pressing them firmly enough into the pan.

Peanut Butter Cornflake Bars
Ingredients
- 4 cups Corn Flakes
- 1 cup peanut butter can use any nut or seed butter
- 1 cup maple syrup can sub for honey
Instructions
- Line an 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add your corn flake cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In a microwave safe bowl or stovetop, melt your peanut butter with pure maple syrup. Pour over the corn flakes and mix until fully combined. For ultra gooey corn flake crunch bars, add an extra tablespoon or two or maple syrup.
- Pour mixture into the lined pan and lightly wet your hands. Press bars firmly into place and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm. Cut into bars.

Add a small touch of almond extract (& perhaps a touch of vanilla extract too) if you’re looking for a Haystack flavor- oddly enough, the almond extract specifically (1/4-1/2 tsp) mimics a butterscotch note found in OG Haystack cookies when it marries with the maple syrup & peanut butter. I set up large, rustic, no-bakes and they were divine- just like ones from Christmas past♥️✨

Super easy! I used corn flakes and red berry special k, crunchy peanut butter and honey! Topped it off with chia seeds after I put it in a 9×13 pan I added a cup extra of each cereal! A great snack anytime of the day/night!

This is like we had in the school cafeteria when I was a kid. I love these!!! I like to use a natural peanut butter and pure honey. I wrap individually in saran wrap and keep in freezer. Also, very good topped with nutella.

Amazing recipe, I followed the recipe and used WOW butter instead of peanut butter (my son is allergic to peanut butter) I broke up some pieces and put it in the freezer, you can eat it right away and it tastes so good.

Hi there, I have made this a few times before and loved it, but tonight i just couldnt gt it to set – simply can’t think what has gone wrong. Different brands of peanut paste and different maple syrup but still good products, – simply can’t work it out. have just pressed it down exceptionally hard and made it much thinner – so lets see what happens in about an hour. I made these today with my kids. I didn’t have enough maple syrup, so I used half n’ half agave/honey. In my opinion, 1 cup of sweetener of any kind is too much! Love the crunch of the plain cornflakes! Next time I make this, I’ll do half the sweetener. I’ll let you know. 😊
Can you just drop spoonfuls of this recipe onto a parchment lined cookie sheet instead? It sounds similar to what my dear mother used to make.

I’ll say my most iconic memory of corn flakes includes consuming a bowl of 80% sugar, 10% cornflakes and 10% milk. They weren’t sweet enough for me! Definitely have always been team Frosted Flakes! But now, I truly love corn flakes and bland cereal because they’re more neutral with my crazy medley of addition she such as fruit, peanut butter, and granola!
