Why I love this recipe

  • It’s quick and easy. All you have to do is season the fish, toss it in the air fryer, and wait for it to cook. The cooking time is under 8 minutes.
  • Mild flavor. Mahi Mahi is a classic white fish does does not taste fishy at all!
  • Healthy. The benefit of air-frying Mahi Mahi is that I skip out on all the oil if I were to deep-fry or grill it.
  • Versatile. I keep the seasonings simple, but you can marinate the fish, add some parmesan, or even bread it!

Ingredients needed

  • Mahi Mahi fish fillets. Choose fillets of equal thickness. Both frozen and fresh fillets can be used.
  • Olive oil. Or any other neutral flavored oil, like avocado oil.
  • Seasonings. I used a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper.

What to serve with this

I typically pair air fryer mahi mahi with some roasted potatoes, greens (sauteed asparagus and air fryer frozen green beans are classics), or some form of salad.

The fish works really well for fish tacos, a replacement for salmon in salmon bowls, or in a fish sandwich.

Recipe tips and variations

  • Mahi Mahi cooks very quickly, so I recommend checking on the fish around the 7-minute mark.
  • Always grease the air fryer basket with some oil before cooking the fish, as this will prevent any part of it from sticking to it.
  • Give the fish a panko breading by coating the Mahi Mahi with panko bread crumbs.
  • Change up the seasonings and use lemon pepper, cajun seasoning, or even a chili spice mix.

Storage instructions

To store. Place leftovers in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.

To freeze. Once the fish has cooled, place the fillets in a shallow container and store them in the freezer for up to 6 months.

This was stunningly delicious. So quick and easy! I served it with brown rice and watermelon salsa, and I’m glad I set aside a plate for myself first, because it was gone within seconds.

Quick, easy and tasty in airfryer BUT….. my mahi mahi didn’t brown! Or get crispy!!????? I followed recipe as written.??

Too salty, definitely could use some thyme added to the rub. Came out much better without flipping halfway through so the rub could caramelize as the fish cooked.
