Healthy and crispy tortilla chips in the air fryer.

I am obsessed with my homemade air fryer tortilla chips. They’re so easy to make, and the results are crispy, crackling chips that are healthy AND restaurant-worthy.

They use just three simple ingredients and are easy to customize. My family begs me to make this whenever the savory snacking cravings strike.

If you need more air fryer snacks, try my air fryer French fries, air fryer potato chips, air fryer sweet potato fries, or air fryer bagel bites next.

Key Ingredients

  • Corn tortillas. Make your own, or just buy some at the store. I used yellow corn tortillas. Please avoid using flour tortillas because the chips will turn out like cardboard.
  • Oil. I used avocado oil, but olive oil or cooking spray will do.
  • Salt. A must for flavor.

Arman’s recipe tips

  • Use a pizza cutter. To get even cuts, I find a pizza cutter does an excellent job.
  • Even layers only. Any overlapping will prevent the chips from getting extra crispy. This may mean that you’ll need to air fry in batches.
  • Place an air fryer rack over them. While I’ve never had this problem, I know some air fryers circulate enough air to make the chips fly around the basket. If you’re worried, add an air fryer trivet or rack on top.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my chips go soggy in air fryer?

Your chips might become soggy in the air fryer if there is moisture on the tortillas. I recommend patting dry the tortillas with paper towels before adding the oil and air frying.

Can you revive stale tortilla chips in an air fryer?

Yes, and I do this very often (no food wastage here!). To make stale chips crispy again, place them in an even layer in the air fryer basket and air fry at 350F for 3-4 minutes.
