Soft, fluffy and delicious homemade naan bread made with just TWO ingredients! This 2 ingredient dough naan bread is healthier than traditional naan and takes less than 10 minutes to make- no yeast!

2 Ingredient Dough Naan

Naan Bread without yeast

After stocking up on a bunch of pantry friendly ingredients, I found myself to have a plethora of self-rising flour.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t go out and buy this particular type of flour as if you look through my recipes, it’s not a flour I regularly use.

I often stick to grain-free and low carb flours, like coconut flour and almond flour.

However, as a means to make use of my pantry staple ingredients, I’ve been digging through it over the past week!

The famous 2 ingredient weight watchers dough has been used to make these 2 ingredient bagels, 2 ingredient pizza crusts and 2 ingredient soft pretzels.

After a curry craving last night, 2 ingredient dough naan bread had to be next!

What is naan bread?

Traditional naan bread is a staple bread in many East Asian countries, like India and Sri Lanka. It’s leavened and most often baked in the oven.

It’s generally made with flour, yeast, salt, and water.

Enjoyed with curries, stews and on their own, they make a fantastic side dish or a substitute for a pizza base!

In this recipe, we don’t bake the naan bread but instead, dry fry it (pan fry it without oil). This makes is SO much quicker.

Taste-wise, naan bread is mild and doughy, and with a slightly more salty flavor than standard bread.

Texture-wise, it is doughy, fluffy and slightly tender on the outside- you MUST enjoy it warm!

Is naan bread healthy?

Depending on where in the world you are and how you make your naan bread, it can be healthy. More often than not, it is what you eat WITH the naan bread that can tip it in the direction of unhealthy.

While traditional naan bread tends to be coated in oil or butter, my version is healthier than the original and virtually fat-free!

2 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Dough Naan Bread

How to make naan bread from scratch

Making naan bread from scratch is SO simple. As it contains no yeast, it literally takes less than 10 minutes to make a batch!

The Ingredients

  • Self-rising flour– Either gluten-free self-rising flour or standard self-raising (self-raising) flour must be used. You can make your own self-rising flour following the recipe here
  • Greek Yogurt– Either non-fat or standard Greek yogurt works. I used coconut Greek yogurt, to keep it vegan friendly, and also dairy-free.
  • Salt– Optional, but reduces the yogurt flavor in the dough.
  • Butter or oil, to brush– To give the naan bread a gorgeous shine. This is not necessary at all.

The Instructions

No crazy mixing bowls or kitchen gadgets needed at all!

In a large mixing bowl, you’ll want to combine your flour, salt (if using it) and Greek yogurt and mix until combined. If you like, use your hands to mix in the dough until fully incorporated. Form a big ball of dough.

Then, you’ll lightly flour a wooden or kitchen surface. Sprinkle a little extra flour on the ball of dough, and transfer onto the floured surface. Press the ball of dough into a circular shape and cut into 8 even pieces. Flatten each piece of dough, and form a rough, oblong shape.

Finally, you will heat a large non-stick pan on medium heat. When hot, place one piece of naan dough onto the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, before flipping and cooking for another 2 minutes. Repeat until all the dough has been used up and 8 naan bread remains!

If desired, brush the tops of the naan bread with melted butter or oil.

What can I use instead of yogurt in naan bread?

While Greek yogurt is the only kind of yogurt that works well (including vegan Greek yogurt) there IS another alternative for Greek yogurt that can be used.

Sour cream works in the same way Greek yogurt does, as it is thick and holds together. You can substitute the Greek yogurt with sour cream.

I haven’t tried vegan sour cream, but lactose-free sour cream does work.

Is naan bread vegan and gluten-free?

YES!

My version IS vegan (dairy-free Greek yogurt) and gluten-free (gluten-free self-rising flour).

If you don’t follow any of those diets, stick to Greek yogurt and standard gluten-free self-rising flour.

Can you refrigerate and freeze naan bread?

If you plan to enjoy the naan bread within 3 days, there is no need to refrigerate it.

To refrigerate: You should avoid refrigerating the uncooked dough, as it will become stickier the longer it sits. You will need to add extra flour to make it durable to form into naan bread.

If you have leftover naan that you don’t want to enjoy immediately, you can refrigerate it to enjoy later.

Place leftover naan bread in a ziplock bag and be sure to enjoy them within 7 days.

To freeze: Cooked naan bread is freezer friendly. Place the naan bread in a ziplock bag. They will keep fresh frozen for up to 6 months.

To reheat: Allow frozen naan to thaw to room temperature. Either reheat in the microwave or crisp up in the pan.

What to eat or serve with naan bread

Traditional ways to enjoy Naan bread is to enjoy it as a side, but here are some other suggestions-

  • Side dish– Enjoy naan bread with homemade curry, with a veggie burger or your favorite protein.
  • Pizza- Substitute your traditional pizza crust with naan bread- Top it as you would with any pizza and bake until the toppings are cooked and cheese is melted.
  • Toast substitute- Replace your toast with it, and spread some almond butter or homemade Nutella on top!
homemade almond butter in a jar

Naan bread variations and flavors

  • Garlic naan- Add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder into the dough. Brush the tops with melted butter and crushed garlic.
  • Butter naan- Brush the tops of the naan with melted butter and let sit, before re-brushing again.
  • Cheese naan- Divide naan dough into two, and top shredded cheese on one half of it. Top with remaining half and pan fry as normal, until cheese has melted in between.
  • Paneer naan- Crumble fresh paneer into the naan dough, along with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Chilli cheese naan– Fold through red pepper flakes (to taste) into the dough, along with shredded cheese (1/4 cup). Cook as you would, and enjoy.

Hi. Thankyou so much for this awesome recipe. my family loved it.i made 1 batch (I wish I made more) and turned it into 8 equal square pieces. Perfect for dipping in beef mince curry for dinner.😁 10/10

These are SO GOOD. I am a huge fan of naan so I was really excited to try this recipe. I actually used cottage cheese instead of Greek yogurt (which is how I make all recipes with this dough) and it worked perfectly, but I did have to use a little more than the listed amount of Greek yogurt (equal parts of flour and cottage cheese). I’ve been making this recipe every week!!

  3. 5 stars
Absolutely love that it is vegan and gluten free. Absolutely love. Do you have recipes for bread rolls?

  4. 5 stars
This is a truely fantastic recipe – I make it so often for dinners because my kids love it (plain without the garlic butter) (I love it WITH the garlic butter!) and we often use it as a substitute for wraps which the kids stuff with raw veggies like carrots, peppers, lettuce and cucumber etc! So thanks for this , its saved me on many an occasion on when I didn’t know what to make for supper! (ps I’ve also done it with all number of flours if I didn’t have self-raising and its turned out great everytime – the biome in the yogurt helps act as a raising agent I think!)

Super easy and tasty. My second batch, I threw some garlic in there. Both batches were fantastic. Spread some butter on them while they were still hot. They’re at the grocery store for $4.99 for like two in a pack! Insane.

  5. 5 stars
Amazing. Super easy and tasty! I brushed them with garlic butter – I won’t be buying naan bread anymore

  6. 5 stars
It really helps to let the dough sit for 10 minutes after you mix it to help the flour hydrate. These puffed up exactly like they should. Perfect naan.

  7. 5 stars
This looks amazing! I wasn’t able to find vegan Greek yogurt. However, I found a vegan oat-based plain yogurt. Will this work? Many thanks!!

  8. 5 stars
So easy and absolutely delicious I’ve made them a few times now, so yummy 😋 thank you for sharing! 🙏

  9. 5 stars
Love this recipe, made it several times, normally half batch for a family of 4! Needs a hot pan so I tend to put the frying pan lid on for periods! Success every time thanks!

    Finally a great recipe 😋
Worked a treat. I have tried so many Other recipes that Didn’t work 😫 😩
    Now SUCCESS @LAST 🙌 👍 👌
Thank you so much for sharing..

This is SO good and so easy. We did 2 batches and the second time we flattened it out quite a bit before cooking it by putting some cling wrap on top and rolling it out a bit. This worked better. We brushed it with melted butter and garlic after cooking. Absolutely delish and we will be making regularly to serve with a curry or even as a snack on its own

Last Spring I used this Naan recipe to round out an Indian Dinner I was making for a women’s retreat. I used Bob’s Red Mill GF All-purpose flour substitute. It was fantastic. It was soft, fluffy and delicious (and not gritty at all). My guests loved it! I’m making it again this weekend for another retreat. Thanks a million!

  13. 5 stars
Always make my own curries but have never made naan till now. Kicking myself for buying them all these years! This recipe is fab! Quick, easy, & authentic. Thank you!

  14. 5 stars
There may not be a better more satisfying recipe than this one. Simplicity at its finest. I do not buy naan or pita any more because this is easy and delicious! Pillowy naan that i can whip up in a flash. Yes please, thank you!

  15. 5 stars
Great recipe. I’ve been looking for an easy recipe for naan flatbread. I can’t wait to try since I have all required ingredients. Thanks for sharing.

  16. 5 stars
I was scouring the internet for a recipe that didn’t require the dough to sit and came across this recipe ..

I just made this naan recipe and let me tell you…. it came out perfectttttt!
Make sure to knead the the dough well. I made some garlic butter, brushed it on the naan, & finished with cilantro .. my gosh was this a hit!

I’m not kidding, my family devourrrreed this.

  17. 5 stars
Accidentally used all purpose flour and it still came out perfect. Will be using this a lot, it’s half the calories of regular naan and you can add garlic salt and mozzarella cheese for something extra. Thank you!

  18. 5 stars
Thank you for posting an amazing recipe. Made this tonight and it turned out well. I made it with Vegan and Gluten-free Greek yogurt.

  19. Just made this and omg! they are amazing! ( I used sour cream instead of the yogurt, added a little garlic powder ) Easiest recipe I’ve ever made! Thank you!

  20. 5 stars
OH MY WORD!! We loved this recipe! So easy to do and thank you for the tip on “how to make your own self rising flour”!!! My family of 5 loved it! We made them into little mini pizzas with pesto and mozzarella and they gobbled it up, and even made me give up half of mine! LOL Next time I better make double batch!

  21. 5 stars
I made these gluten free and was so skeptical since I have tried so many GF Naan bread recipes in the past and all were sub par. This one was AMAZING! My husband has celiac and is picky with taste and texture these tasted great and the texture was soft and chewy like reg naan. I used your recipe to make my own GF self rising flour and used sour cream instead of yogurt. I did add some additional liquid as it didn’t combine enough.
Thank you for a winning recipe that is simple, quick and delicious.

  22. 5 stars
Not traditional but light, fluffy ( stuffed with cheese) and it took 5 mins. I am not sure I can be bothered doing it the traditional way if that is the results I get from these, really happy.

  23. 5 stars
O.M.G!! Thanks so much for this recipe it is incredible, best naan breads I’ve ever made. We’re in the UK where Indian cuisine is welcomed with open mouths and demolished in seconds so there are a lot of restaurants…but now I’ve made these, my husband and children have said they only want these ones in the future which is a HUGE compliment as they rate restaurants on their naan breads 🤣

  24. 5 stars
My daughter is on a really restrictive diet for Crohn’s disease. She had really been missing bread, but commercial gluten free breads had too many ingredients she was not allowed. We made this with plain white organic rice flower, baking powder, salt and So Delicious coconut plain dairy free yogurt. It came out wonderful. She is so happy to finally have a bread she can eat!!!

  25. For the time and effort they took (literally nothing) they were awesome!! Me and my fam really enjoyed them and ate them all. I will definitely make again the recipe is just too easy and delicous! Thanks a lot Arman!

  26. 5 stars
This is a game changer for my daughter that has a really restrictive diet. It was absolutely amazing. We made the homemade self rising flour with rice flour and used plain coconut yogurt, as we couldn’t find a dairy free greek yogurt. It all worked.

  27. This turns out very delicious. Ways to make it more delicious: before flattening the dough into its final shape, add shredded cheese and fold the dough over it so you end up with a cheesy filling. Then when you flip it to the second side for cooking, definitely add the suggested butter as well as minced garlic (mine was from a jar). Yum!!

  28. 5 stars
So easy to do I’m definitely going to make these again. I did over cook these first try but sure I won’t next time. Even though I over cooked them they tasted great and was still a food texture.

  29. 5 stars
I make this everyday with just the self rising flour and Greek yogurt (I found that it doesn’t need any extra salt, in my opinion)and my family loves it! Thank you!

  30. Hey Arman!

Thanks for the recipe, it went really well! Especially because it was my first time trying to make Naan Bread! Keep up the good work my friend!

P.S. your replies and comments are very funny haha, hope you’re doing well

  31. 5 stars
Wow!!! This turned out perfectly. I cooked a chickpea curry and really wanted some naan bread to eat with it. I’m on Covid quarantine so didn’t want to leave or instacart. This is my first time making naan. So glad I had the Greek yogurt!!! Thank you for a simple, easy, fresh, and delicious recipe!

  32. 5 stars
I have been using this recipe for 2 years now, it is INCREDIBLE and versatile. A staple in my meal planning. I’m eating it right now, used as the bread for a mini pizza. Dipping it in curry is to die for. My husband and I make it weekly and devour it. Delicious – I figured it was about time I left a comment! 😌

I’ve made it with full fat and non fat Greek yogurt, turns out perfect every time!

  33. Can any of the bread recipes be made paleo friendly? Also, is cassava flour an acceptable substitute? Thanks.

  34. I am following the paleo diet and am excited to try this recipe. Where did you find coconut milk Greek yogurt? I am having a difficult time finding the product.

  35. 5 stars
Made this a couple of weeks ago with garlic butter on top. All the family loved them. So, so easy to make and very tasty. Making again today. Gave the recipe to my friendand they all loved it too. Thankyou for the easy recipe.

    Greetings, Arman!
So I’ve now made these fabulous naan breads both GF and with white flour. They’re perfect and making my frugal self quite happy. Eight little naan breads are now around $4 at Aldi. The family loves these, but I don’t like paying $4; however, I’m confident the cost to me for this recipe was under $1. What’s not to love about that – and the taste is as good if not better. I will add that just for health reasons and a fiber boost, I added a tablespoon of whole psyllium powder plus a little bit of water. Perfect!

  37. 5 stars
I can’t stop making these! So easy and with ingredients I always have in the house. I have been yeast and lactose intolerant for 10 years and I miss bread so much! These were delicious with curry and also made into pizzas.I made them with lactose free Greek yoghurt and they turned out perfectly. They were devoured by the rest of the family too who don’t have intolerances. I have made several batches in a week and they’re eaten as quickly as I can make them.

  38. You can pour syrup on top with just a little butter for pancakes. I realize this is an old post but hey! I’m reading it so someone may see this,🙂

  39. 5 stars
Absolutely fabulous! I did some minor recipe tweakage, as I commonly do, and it was exquisitely perfect. I used Aldi whole milk organic plain yogurt (fabulous brand, I might add), used a generous 1.5 cups of flour (only had plain white available), followed Arman’s recipe to make it self rising, albeit used just a scant half of the recipe, and then added 1/4 cup of ground flax meal for some added fiber. Cooked these wonderful little naan breads on a cast iron skillet at medium heat and voila – perfection! Thanks Arman!

  40. Thank you so much for your recipe. It was a game changer. I made some last night & it was exactly like the ones you get in restaurants. It was so quick & easy, it will be our new family go to .

  41. 5 stars
Was real fun making these with my 4 year old boy. A real fluffy texture and we were really impressed. Thanks

  42. 5 stars
I used Pillsbury self rising GF flour for this. It turned out pretty good. Flavor was good, definitely go with some seasoning in the dough. This flour always needs less flour than called for. Spread the dough as then as you can get it for a nice texture.

  43. Great easy recipe for an old codger like me to use, and have added coriander and garlic flecks to give it a little added zing to the naan bread.
Have also used this recipe to make pizza bases, as have to do gluten free stuff when my son visits.
    Thanks for sharing.

  44. 5 stars
This was so easy and turned out great! I made a coconut curry dish and needed something to go with it and came across your recipe. Really appreciate the time you took to share it, thank you!

  45. 5 stars
This is the best recipe for bread I have found. I used goat yogurt and made my own self rising GF flour. I have tried many many recipes for GF and have bought many ready made breads and mixes. This is the easiest and the best I have found.

    Dear Mr Boopie,
Thank you for this superb & magnificent recipe. I have made it 3 times now and I do it better each time. I absolutely adore this recipe. My Sweetie thinks I am wonderful for making this bread.
It’s the best recipe I have ever made. I have not actually made it for myself but I will tomorrow and I will be using Einkorn flour. I will report back. Thank you, take care…

Amazing recipe! So quick and easy. The best part is that I had all of these ingredients on hand. I made a garlic butter topping and sprinkled salt and cilantro on top after frying. Yuuuummmm. Thanks for sharing!

  50. I am going to try this for a cooking comp my mum said it was the best recipe that the has ever made please dont fail on me… do yu have any tips of any sort to make it better?

I was thinking to make it cheesey, are you thinking that will work and I also got dared to add flavour yogourt do you think that will work?

  51. 5 stars
Made a few kinds of naan, mainly with yeast. I did this tonight because I didn’t have time for the yeast to do its job. It was delicious. Wonderful texture, and just thick enough. Cooked mine with a little ghee (not vegan here, and used regular lo fat Greek yogurt). Very nice.

  52. 5 stars
I Love Love Love all of your recipes. !I really wish folks would read the dang recipes instead of picking them apart with their opinions. Keep up the Great Work 🙂

I have been “researching” (aka procrastinating) GF tortillas, flatbreads and naans. Looking for something that would work to make GF individual pizzas. THIS IS IT! Took me 2 min to mix together GF self-rising flour. Another 5 min to mix the dough together (mine was a little dry, added 1 tablespoon more yogurt). I made a tiny sample, put a dot of butter on it and was so excited to keep on making 8 naans. Thank you!!

  54. Delicious and so easy. I brushed mine with garlic butter prior to pan frying and it was so much better than those from the restaurant. Will come back to this recipe time and time again.

  55. 5 stars
So easy and so good! After cooking I brushed them with a little melted butter and sprinkled with za’atar and they were delicious!

  56. 5 stars
Easy recipe! I just used homemade soy yogurt. Worked like a charm. Made a ton for the freezer! Thank you for sharing!

  57. 5 stars
The best tasting gluten free vegan naam bread I’ve ever tasted. Took minutes to make the dough, and 4 minutes to fry. Tasted better than any other naam bread I’ve ever eaten. Thank you so much for sharing. I made with coconut yoghurt and fried in the pan (as i have no non-stick) with goats butter… mmm.

  58. Tell the U.K. people to just use a cup, it’s a 2-1 ratio that works fine. So if you want 2 cups flour (SF) and 1 cup yoghurt (Greek)….. just get a cup from your cupboard. And if you make to much choose a smaller cup next time, too little choose a bigger cup! 😝

  59. 5 stars
I cut the recipe in half to try it. Besides I just had a half cup of Greek nonfat yogurt left!! I don’t have any nonstick pans, so I used olive oil spray on a cast iron skillet. It came out really good It reminds me of fried bread dough. On Sundays we would use some dough left over from making bread and fry it. Sometimes sprinkle powdered sugar or granulated on it. Maybe cinnamon sugar. Options are endless Thanks for the recipe🙂

  60. 5 stars
This was so good! I’ve made it twice in four days. I used full fat Greek yogurt. And used the pastry brush to put the tiny bit of butter on it when they were done. It’s hard not to eat one as soon as they are ready. And it’s definitely a recipe you can add to with different herbs Etc

  61. This was a fool proof, delicious, easy recipe. I will never buy pre packaged again. I did use low fat Greek yogurt and normal Self raising flour and came out perfect.

  62. 5 stars
Quick, foolproof and delicious! First time making naan and these were almost devoured before I had a chance to serve the tikka masala they were accompanying. Will definitely never buy pre-made again.

  63. I’m looking forward to making this tonight with my slow cooker Healthy B
utter Chicken. I love that it’s easy and low calorie!! Thanks SO much!

  64. Greetings,

thank you for providing this recipe. Have you tried making this naan with Indian style yoghurt like the brand Gopi? it is thicker than plain yoghurt.
    Thanks

  65. Hi Do you have any vegan Greek yogurts to recommend for this recipe? I have found normal vegan yogurt but not vegan Greek yogurt. Does it have to be Greek yogurt? Thanks. 😊

  66. 5 stars
This recipe is so simple and amazing, I’m really blown away by it. I’ve tried a couple of variants that I’ll share below:

Stainless steel pan instead of non-stick – I used a little olive oil and while result tasted good, I don’t recommend it. Once the oil burned off it was smoke alarm time. I also spent a half hour cleaning the burns from my pan. Nonstick pan is recommended for a reason but I don’t use them so I tried this.

Air fryer – Basted with a little olive oil and the end result was somewhere between pizza crust and naan. Unless you don’t have access to a broiler or non-stick pan, I wouldn’t try this option. It’s more work and took longer than the broiler option below with about the same result.

Broiler – My current go to option. I put some flour on the bottom, then the dough and with a light olive oil baste and then flipped it once it started to brown and basted again. Perfect result but didn’t have the slightly burnt bubbles like traditional Naan. A real key here is to not fill the whole pan with the dough so you can get under it with a spatula to flip it. Otherwise, you end up tearing part of the bottom when you try to get under it.

Using coconut flour with the broiler option above – 100% coconut flour doesn’t work well, but I used 50% and 50% gluten free and it came out great.

  67. 5 stars
I was dubious but this naan bread was amazing! It wasn’t as light and fluffy as the real thing but had a lovely taste and was so quick to whip up! Definitely recommend.

    Hey,

Thank you for these recipes they are great! I was planning to add coconut powder – would that effect the outcome?

    Thank you 🙂

  69. Hello Arman. Made the naan this evening to go with some leftover aloo Chana masala. Used self-rising flour and non-fat Greek yogurt as we are vegetarian but not vegan. It came out well and we were pleased with the taste. Looking forward to trying other of your recipes in the future. Thank you so much.

  70. one word AMAZING! all i had was double cream yogurt and it worked like a charm, printed it and began my very first recipe book.

    Thank you.

  71. I just made these and they’re so so good, thank you! I used normal yoghurt and an extra half cup of flour. These are a million times better than the horrid, dry shop offerings and sooo much quicker too.
Maybe amend to clarify using a dry pan as my first one got a little burnt when I used oil 🤦‍♀️ still great though

  72. Recipe for naan worked out sensational, I just added some honey in with the GREEK yogurt.

  73. Hello big man. In the middle of making these and i dont see any measurements for the ingredients? Do you just wing it or what? Cheers, Ben

  74. Thank you so much for this recipe. Had some left-over curry but no rice, quickly googled ‘quick na’an bread’ and found your post. I still cannot believe that only 10 minutes later I had very nice freshly baked na’an bread on my plate. Wow!

  75. I tried this today and it was amazing. I used gluten free all purpose flour and added the baking powder. Used regular Greek yogurt and added minced garlic and shredded cheese. I cooked them a little longer than the recipe called for and topped with melted butter.and garlic powder. They were.incredible and so easy. I had them with a homemade mushroom soup. It was as a delicious and satisfying dinner. I will definitely be using this recipe again. Thanks so much!

  76. Tried this recipe this evening, most authentic naans I’ve ever made! Really delicious, made with plain flour with baking powder (no self-raising available) and regular Greek yogurt, brushed with butter at the end. Thanks for sharing!!

  77. Hi Arman! If I want to make it a few hours in advance, how do I reheat the naan? Can I use a toaster oven or throw it back on the stove again for a few mins? Thanks a million!

    1. Hi Leen! I’d re-heat on the stovetop for the best flavor, but I’ve also microwaved it when I have been lazy ahah 🙂

  78. Hi, I’d like to try making these but I’m unsure on quantities of cups as I’m in the UK. Do you know the measurements in grams and ml please?
    Thank you 🙂

  79. Hello!!!!! I have stumbled upon your site and I am planning to make these naan tomorrow! Quick question-can they be made in advance?? Hope you are well!

  80. Arman, your cheese scones are terrific. I seem to be struggling with the quantities for this recipe, though, as the mixture is far too thin. It’s possibly that Australian / US / UK cup sizes all differ. Grams-wise, how much flour and yoghurt do you use? Thanks.

    1. Hi David! We are slowly updating recipes to include that. I haven’t measured this, as I use American style cups. If the mixture is too thin, adding extra cheese helps!

  81. Came across your site once a couple of weeks ago and can’t remember if I used the recipe. Anyways came back for this quick one to eat with an Indian coconut butter cauliflower dish and YUM. Pretty darn easy as the other dish was easy as well.
I’m quarantined in the UK while visiting my partner from the states and your blog name had me thinking you were a big husky, fellow American lol. Until I scrolled down and read comments/ saw your pic today. Thanks & be well

  82. Just made these to go with some leftover Indian food. It was my first time making naan…and they were sooo delicious. Halved the recipe since this was just for me and toddler. But now I wish I didn’t! Ate 3 with my butter chicken and 1/2 of baby’s piece with Nutella. Didn’t save much for the baby. Thanks for this simple recipe.

  83. Hi there! Can you tell me where you find vegan greek yogurt?? I have been searching and can only find vegan regular yogurt not greek.

    Thanks!

  84. I made the garlic variety yesterday using gluten free self raising flour and sheep (natural) yogurt.. always struggle with the cups to grams/ml conversion, as we use that in the UK. Anyway, it needed more flour as you suggested (no idea how much I added in the end!), but OMG, these were literally the BEST gf naan I have ever tasted!!! Amazed that I actually made them!! Thank you so much for your recipe 🙂 Much enjoyed in a home in the UK x

      1. Made these tonight a yummo. I had natural full cream Yoghurt worked wonderfully. Thanks for recipe

    1. Hi Cheryl,

Not redundant at all- It doesn’t rise much, so as thick as you’d like the naan to be.

    1. Hi there- I don’t really recommend Greek “style” yogurt as it generally is plain yogurt with slightly more tang. If your option is only that, you can use it, but you’ll find your dough to be stickier- That is okay- Add a little extra flour and you will combat that well 🙂

  85. Thanks Arman. I have made many of items from your posts. I have your book too. Love that you are making easy and healthy recipes. Stay safe during this pandemic. Looking forward to making the naan.

  86. Hi, love reading the recipes. Can I use normal plain yogurt for the Naan bread recipe or must it be Greek yogurt?

    1. Yes, must be Greek yogurt or it will be too sticky. I’ve tried plain yogurt and I had to add almost twice as much to make the dough malleable, and even then it didn’t cook properly.

Made these last night. Rolled out and added garlic and coriander, folded over and dried rolled out again. Put in smoking hot skillet, once cooked brushed with unsalted butter and they were amazing. Thanks for the simple recipe

      3. Thank you for this recipe! They turned out so good! I made my GF flour blend self rising then used full fat sour cream since I didn’t have greek yogurt on hand. Turned out beautifully and so delicious!

      1. Your recipies are awesome! I’m sorry there are so many “Karens” that pick apart each word! Can’t wait to make this 🙂

    1. You have clearly not read the post at all- This recipe used vegan Greek yogurt.

Very well aware what vegans can and cannot eat 🙂 Nothing needs to be amended at all, Evette.

  87. I see the formula adding the baking powder and salt. Would the amounts be the same if I used whole wheat flour?
