keto iced coffee

Coffee is a must in my morning routine, especially if I’m expected to stay on a keto diet.

I used to be a diehard Starbucks stan, but once I learned how expensive it was, I decided to pull back a bit and start making my iced coffee drinks at home. You guys, best. Decision. Ever.

Why I love this recipe

  • Easy to make ahead of time. I can make it at night and just add ice in the morning. That means I have even less time to wait before enjoying my first cup of the day!
  • Fast. Chilling the coffee until it’s cold is the most time-consuming task. The rest is done in seconds.
  • Your home is your coffee shop. Customize your iced coffee with whatever sweeteners or sugar-free syrups you want!
  • Zero net carbs. I don’t even want to know how many grams of sugar are in my favorite Starbucks drinks…

Ingredients needed

  • Cold coffee. Use either filtered coffee, cold brew coffee, or instant coffee. I usually pour any leftover coffee from the morning into a pitcher and use that. Work smarter, not harder!
  • Sugar-free maple syrup. Adds sweetness and a lovely maple flavor. Alternatively, use keto honey or keto simply syrup
  • Milk OR heavy cream. I used unsweetened almond milk, but any milk can be used. For the thickest, creamiest coffee, use heavy whipping cream (or a mix of both).
  • Ice. Crushed ice or ice cubes.

Arman’s recipe tips

  • Save time. Make my cold brew concentrate so it’s always ready when you need it!
  • Make coffee ice cubes. So the coffee doesn’t get diluted as the ice melts.
  • Taste as you go. And adjust the sweetness or creaminess as desired.
  • Enjoy an affogato! Add a scoop of keto ice cream

Variations

  • French vanilla. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 ounce of sugar-free French vanilla syrup.
  • Mocha. Mix 1 tablespoon cocoa powder into the filtered coffee.
  • Hazelnut. Add 1 tablespoon sugar-free hazelnut syrup OR 1 teaspoon hazelnut extract.
  • Caramel. Whisk in 1-2 tablespoons sugar free caramel sauce
  • Peanut butter. Whisk 2 tablespoons sugar-free peanut butter with the maple syrup before adding it to the coffee.
  • Cinnamon. Whisk ½ tablespoon of Saigon cinnamon and 1 ounce of keto simple syrup.
  • Vietnamese iced coffee. Swap out the milk for sugar-free condensed milk.

Storage instructions

To store: Iced coffee can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Do not add extra ice to it.

To freeze: Place the coffee in ice cube trays, freeze them, then place them in a freezer-friendly container. Let them thaw overnight, or (if you don’t mind a blended coffee) place the ice cubes in a blender and blend until smooth.
