After sharing this 3 ingredient flourless brownie and this 4 ingredient flourless protein brownie recipe last year, the number 1 reason why people HADN’T made either of those brownies yet was due to one thing- Only having frozen bananas on hand.
Having frozen bananas on hand is a beautiful and beneficial thing. They are an amazing thickener in smoothies and If you’re anything like me, you even snack on them thawed….slathered in peanut butter. However, when it comes to using them in baked goods, I thought they would turn them into mush.
Friends, I stand corrected.
The other day, I had 3-4 frozen bananas all chopped up to um….eat semi-frozen with peanut butter for a day time snack. I already had the oven on calculating the oven directions for this microwave red velvet mug cake. On a whim, I thought to try it out with the frozen bananas. Unlike the original recipe, I didn’t want to wait for them to thaw out and wanted to see if it would work IN THIS STATE. This meant that using a hand to mash the bananas was out of the picture. I whipped out the blender, added the frozen banana pieces, smooth almond butter and some cocoa powder and blitzed it.
Friends, I was left with a cocoa colored swamp.
I taste tested it and it tasted SO good- Like that fake ice cream which isn’t ice cream but is kind of like ice cream but isn’t really ice cream because it has no cream.
Oh yeah.
Banana ‘ice cream.’
Anyway, while it tasted good in such a thick state, it needed to be baked. I poured the mixture in a loaf pan and baked it for around 15-20 minutes on low, watching consistently to make sure something odd wouldn’t happen (I’m not sure why I thought this. I thought maybe the frozen banana would freeze the oven. I’m smart like that). I took it out of the oven and was pleasantly surprised. They looked like delicious, rich and dense brownies but the key was the taste test. Would the taste be altered at all?
You guys, I swear they tasted better than using non-frozen bananas. They were somewhat sweeter and their texture was on point- Tender on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. Dare I say they have officially trumped their non-frozen counterpart? You bet. You need to make these healthy 3 ingredient flourless blender brownies…now.
These healthy three ingredient flourless blender brownies have no butter, oil, flour or sugar but you’d never tell- They are THAT good. They have a rich, melt in your mouth texture and are the perfect naturally sweetened treat to enjoy anytime, or as I did- For breakfast! (PS- You would have seen these on Snapchat- Add-> thebigmansworld). They literally are the easiest (and healthiest!) brownies ever- Simply add all THREE ingredients in a blender and blitz and pour and bake. Because they have no eggs or any flour whatsoever, they are suitable for those following a vegan, gluten free, paleo and dairy free lifestyle.
HACK! I’m sorry that I sound like a broken record (again) but these brownies delivered on the ultimate taste test- Enjoyed straight out of the fridge or lightly thawed from the freezer. As hard as it is to do, PLEASE make a double batch. One batch to eat straight from the oven and a second to chill in the fridge and….Oh em gee.
Seriously.
Make these healthy 3 ingredient flourless blender brownies and now you actually can’t use the ‘but I only have frozen bananas’ excuse. They’ll now be even better.
Truth.

What’s something you have in the freezer right now?
Favorite way to use a frozen banana? Well, it’s today’s recipe now.
I have a ton of frozen bananas right now and I ton of time to make thistoday in the blizzard! Definitely making it.
Please do- It’s SO GOOD!
Really love this idea! Having the perfectly ripe bananas on hand is always hard but I always having something in the freezer, usually forgotten about. Genius.
😀 thanks so much, Michele!
My blender small and weak, so I can`t have that popular “nice-cream”. But I love cover banana in chocolate before freeze. Or put frozen banana slices between two cookies 😉
ooo I like that idea! 🙂
I never use a blender to make banana ice cream with frozen banana…I use a food processor…works great…I do stop mine if it sounds “tired” and then start it up a wee bit after it has had a rest. I also use the pulse feature on ours. I am not sure my blender can handle the frozen banana either…but you might want to peel and the slice the bananas and lay the slices on wax paper on a cookie sheet in your freezer to make the frozen bits a bit easier for the processor to break the frozen banana down. Works well for me. Thought I could give you a tip. Hope you can do these frozen banana recipes (of course if you have a processor!). Good luck!
I have a lot of frozen burritos and ravioli in my freezer. We love that fast stuff around these parts. I’ve been trying to be good about eating things in my freezer because they do not last indefinitely. My favorite was to use frozen bananas is probably coating them in chocolate and freezing them like Popsicles. Thanks for the recipe and the link up Arman
Thanks Ellie.
So I dont have any frozen bananas [you can’t seem to win can you?] but I totally plan on freezing bananas so that I can make these. Well that and I plan on making the version that requires UNfrozen bananas, because this lady has a sweet tooth the size of Texas that is always in need of being quenched!
Please do- Especially if that tooth is the size of Texas! 🙂
Semi-frozen bananas with peanut butter is amaaaazing. And these also look fantastic, naturally. Three ingredients and maximum deliciousness 😀
Right? People used to think I was so odd for enjoying it that way!
This is pretty much exactly how I make soft serve “ice cream”. I am in awe that I can make brownies out of the same stuff!! Totally trying this!! Wow!
Right? It seriously has the BEST texture, especially if you refrigerate it!
I’ve just put some bananas in the freezer. I totally need this for breakfast tomorrow. And maybe I make a little more to enjoy some of that fake ice cream which isn’t ice cream but is kind of like ice cream but isn’t really ice cream because it has no cream, too! 😀
omg. Stop it. I need to message you now.
Apparently I need to throw some naners into the freezer!
Hell yes, buddy!
I literally ran out of frozen bananas last night. Guess, I’ll just have to buy another bunch, one strictly for freezing.
You would be my idol if you did 😀
I love how the top of these brownies have that moist chocolate sheen! Now, I need to buy more banana’s, since they do not last long in my house.
YES! Thanks so much, Joanne! 🙂
this is a lovely idea for a snack..im going to try this in my muffin tin and see what happens!!!
It works great in a muffin tin, I often use that too 🙂
As much as I love banana “ice cream”, it’s just WAY too cold to have right now! Having these brownies warm and gooey, therefore, is a much better alternative!
Did you also get my email that I also sent to Gigi regarding next week? Hope you get the chance to look in your schedule so we can meet up sometime!
So excited for Saturday! 🙂
First oats and now bananas? I can’t even
Legit. It’s amazing.
Wow, great recipe! Any chance a single serve version will come out soon?
