When I first started blogging and partaking in What I ate Wednesday posts, I noticed some similarities amongst those who joined the party.

Oatmeal with peanut butter- Common.

Snacking on a protein or fruit and nut bar- Always. 

Having a square or two of dark chocolate after dinner Standard.

Putting something green in a smoothie- Normal. 

These foods, however, were mostly eaten at home. When it came to grabbing a breakfast on the go- There was one standout- A Starbucks Spinach and Feta Breakfast Wrap.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say there would be 2-3 blogs I would read mentioning they’d enjoyed one for breakfast. Over time, I started to just expect to see them and lo and behold, they continued to be eaten. 

When I travelled to America last year, I had several readers kindly offer advice of places to eat, certain foods to eat and lo and behold something which popped up with a Starbucks Spinach and Feta Breakfast Wrap. Seeing as this was all over the blogs and now I was being recommended to try one- I had to.

The perfect opportunity arose when I was planning to fly out from New York to Los Angeles and there was a Starbucks conveniently located at the airport and I had 3 hours before my flight. Being the goose I am, I somehow thought airport policies were like Australia’s international ones which recommend you being at the airport up to 3 hours prior to your flight….

Anyway, I settled myself in Starbucks, ordered a blonde roast and the elusive Spinach and Feta Breakfast Wrap. I took one bite and was transported to heaven. It was like eating a truffle from France or a single caviar from the Caspian Sea.

Just kidding.

No offence to fans of this wrap but you guys….It was tiny, lacked salt and the I could barely taste the feta cheese. In fact, I thought they had forgotten it! The worst part? It was so unsatisfying, I had to order another one. I was hoping the first one was merely a mistake but no. It was the same. Small, lacking feta and salt and unsatisfying. I was disappointed. This wrap which was the (Healthy) Living Food blogger’s shining glory and failed me. How to remedy it? Recreate. With my terms.

When the team at Nikos Feta reached out to create a recipe using one of their delicious feta options, it was like a sign- MAKE THE INFAMOUS WRAP BETTER. 

Okay not really. It was more like MAKE THE WRAP AND ADD YOUR DESIRED AMOUNT OF FETA. 

Okay fine, I was making the damn wrap regardless….with this. 

This copycat Starbucks Spinach and Feta Breakfast Wrap is a better version of the Starbucks staple. Do me a favour and google the ingredient list for the Starbucks offering- It’s like the reference page of an English textbook. My version? Just a few simple ingredients and a delicious, hearty lavash wrap perfect for a quick weekday breakfast or healthy weekend brunch served with some coffee- Starbucks or home brewed. A Starbucks wrap uses the whites of the egg only and this recipe does too, but when I make it for myself, I leave the yolks in- Your choice. 

Bonus- These are perfect for those who do meal prep as they freeze REALLY well and can either be toasted or defrosted on the day of consumption!

This copycat Starbucks Spinach and Feta Breakfast wrap is even more delicious than it's inspiration- High in protein and packed full of nutrients, it's a much healthier twist on the original- Naturally gluten free!

  • 1 large gluten free lavash wrap or any wrap/tortilla of choice
  • 3 large egg whites OR eggs or mixture of both
  • pinch sea salt
  • pinch pepper
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach
  • 3-4 sun dried tomatoes
  • 2 T + crumbled feta


  • On medium heat, coat a frying pan with oil or cooking spray. When hot, add your eggs/whites, salt and pepper and whisk roughly until fully cooked. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Add your fresh spinach and cover for 1-2 minutes, until wilted. Set aside.
  • Lay open your lavash and add your eggs/whites, wilted spinach, sun dried tomatoes and crumbled feta and wrap up, cut in half and serve.


If making in a batch, allow the eggs and spinach to cool completely before assembling. Wraps can be frozen.

  1. I’ve always though Starbucks sandwiches were way too small and bland for what hey priced them at, but I think that’s part of what Starbucks is known for 😉 I’ve never had the original but this I’m sure is a million times better!

  3. Ooooo. I won’t even bother trying the Starbucks version now that you’ve posted this recipe. I’ll bring your version into Starbucks and make other people jealous.
    The peanut butter supreme Quest bar made me pretty sad. It tasted like sweet something, but definitely not peanut butter. Too supreme = not supreme at all.

While I haven’t tried the “real” one, I think I’m just going to use yours as an example… with my desired amount of feta (lots!).   5. I’dtake your version anyway…especially if there’s no skimping on the feta! Starbucks should stick with making baked goods which actually taste great. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from their savoury range and that’s purely due to looks alone…doesn’t look appetising in the slightest and the never-ending ingredient list doesn’t help their case either!!

  7. Would you believe that I’ve never tried the Starbucks Spinach and Feta Breakfast Wrap? But I am a HUGE fan of feta cheese (we go through it like crazy in our house), so I’m pretty sure I would devour this wrap. I often make egg sandwiches for lunch, so I’m already half-way there. Pass me the salt and some feta, mate! 🙂

  9. I guess I am one of the lucky one that had never tried this ‘fantastic’ wrap at Starbucks. But again, I write from Amsterdam. Here Starbuck does not get very adventurous.
    On the other hand we have FEBO here. Next challenge for you is a Dutch Copycat Croquette.

  11. I can’t believe how many healthy food bloggers like Starbucks wraps! Personally I would not have recommended you go there for any meal first thing in NY. Next time you need a restaurant rec come to me! That said, your copycat recipe looks delish and I love the idea of freezing them for easy on the go breakfasts!

  12. I’m shocked people recommended Starbucks as a healthy food option. Anything that comes with a text book of ingredients is the opposite of good eats, in my not so humble opinion. Your version, whole eggs and extra feta included, is right up my alley though. Great redo.

  13. I hate to be that person but I honestly just don’t like Starbucks. The food and the coffee are always mediocre and I feel so ripped off paying such a huge price tag for something that doesn’t even taste that great. With that said, I definitely agree that making your own version of what they sell is the way to go! Couldn’t help but laugh when you said you thought they had forgotten the feta, LOL. Your version seems way better 😉

  15. This looks so yummy! How long do these last for in the freezer [wondering how many can be made in advance]. Do you have any suggestions for easy reheating in the morning?


    1. Hi Haylee! I usually make them in batches of 6 or 7 and they last a good month- For reheating, I either thaw it the night before in the fridge and reheat in a sandwich press or if I use good quality wrap bread and minimal spinach, the microwave 🙂

  16. Looks SO good! Ok where can I find gluten free lavash wraps? What brand do you use?
    Also, to freeze, do you just put them individually in plastic bags? Do you wrap them first?

    1. Hi Lacy! I’ve used a couple, my favourite brand Flatout just released a range of gluten free ones! I actually wrap them individually in grease proof paper and then wrap them again in aluminium foil!

  17. I keep reading comments from people who have never tried the Starbucks wrap and are glad they saved themselves. I completely agree that you need 2 to be satisfied, and of course they are way too expensive. But I actually liked mine and was pretty impressed when I had my first one (before reading this) yesterday. In fact, I thought it was so good that I came here looking for the recipe. I’m wondering if the reason you had a bad experience had to do with that particular airport location. I would maybe give it a try one more time if you ever get the chance because I loved the feta cheese in mine and tasted quite a bit of it. Just my two cents! Thank you so much for this recipe that I’m going to make right now!

Oh gosh… I ate these Starbucks wraps for a whole semester forcing my brain to think it was good and forgetting that they were going from freezer to quick oven to my stonach in less than two minutes. Anyways, I just read about half a century worth of your post and you ar now my go to resource for all recipes I want to try in a near future! The on,y inconvenient is I live in middle-of-no-where NZ at the moment and most of the ingredients you mentionned are not easily available here. Wish they were! Thanks for all these goodies!
