If I have to run out the door early in the morning, I usually make keto overnight oatmeal. But if I have even a few minutes to spare, it’s savory breakfasts all the way.
My keto avocado toast recipe has the same creamy, satisfying flavor as the OG version but with a fraction of the carbs.

Why I love this recipe
- Easy to customize. While this recipe is quite simple, you can add a whole host of creative toppings to really take it over the top.
- Ready in minutes. Toast your low-carb bread, mix up your avocado spread, and you’re good to go.
- Satisfying AND healthy. Avocado toast is viral for a reason, and it’s not just because it looks pretty. It’s also super filling and feels decadent, even though it’s full of healthy fats and fiber.
- Perfect any time of day. Whether you need breakfast, brunch, or a light snack.
Ingredients needed
- Avocado. Fresh and slightly overripe avocados are best, as they yield a smoother and creamier texture.
- Lemon juice. This stops the avocado from browning and adds a subtle citrus flavor. You can also use lime juice.
- Salt and pepper. To taste. I like to add a little to the mixture and sprinkle extra on top.
- Red pepper flakes. It’s optional, but it gives a spicy kick.
- Low carb bread. Use your favorite low-carb bread (Aldi Zero Carb is fantastic) or a slice of my homemade keto bread.

How to make keto avocado toast
Step 1- Make the avocado spread. In a small bowl, add the ripe avocado and mash with a fork until mostly smooth. Add the lemon juice and spices and mix to combine.
Step 2- Assemble. Toast the bread and distribute the mashed avocado mixture between the slices.
Arman’s recipe tips
- Use other types of keto breads. I like the classic look of sandwich bread, but you can use keto naan bread, keto flatbread, or even keto biscuits.
- Save time and use pre-made guacamole instead. Just make sure there are no hidden sugars.
- Toast the bread in a pan. If I have the time, I prefer toasting bread in a pan over medium heat with a little melted butter. It gives the bread a crispier texture and keeps the edges from burning.
Serving ideas!
Think of avocado toast as a blank canvas and serve it with anything you want! Here are some ideas:
- Served with proteins like a fried over easy egg, air fryer bacon, or smoked salmon.
- Topped with tomato slices and fresh herbs, like fresh basil or cilantro.
- Sprinkled with feta cheese or goat cheese and bagel seasoning.
- Topped with pickled red onions, sprouts, arugula, and sea salt.
- Add a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Storage instructions
To store: Low-carb avocado toast is best enjoyed fresh, but if you have any leftovers, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to one day.
