Oh, Australia.
Why are our candy bars subpar to our American friends’ offerings?
My friends back home told me that some supermarkets in Australia have recently started carrying pop tarts and Reese’s peanut butter cups- Two items which are seen as cliche novelties amongst my friends. They tried to make it seem as though there was no need to travel the short twenty-four-hour journey to visit me here in the northern hemisphere. Little did they know the plethora of even better candy available here, trumping the peanut butter cups and pop tarts.
HOLIDAY peanut butter cups which are twice the size of standard ones? Winning.
Jelly Belly flavors NOT just limited to the top 20 ones? Winning.
Free lollipops in banks with epic names like ‘Dum Dums’? Winning.
Butterfinger bars? Winning x 10000000000 with a cherry on top and some frosted flakes for the sake of it.
You guys, I ate a butterfingers bar for the first time the other week and the taste and texture is beyond amazing. It was creamy, sweet, salty and magical all in one. The only thing missing was Harry Potter and Hermoine serenading me in a corner, but that can be forgiven this one time. I am the biggest texture freak and love anything which mixes sweet, savory and salty in one and this fit the bill. This needed to be recreated without the need to actually buy more because let’s be real- It redefined candy crack.
When my friends at Flatout threw a challenge to create a recipe using their delicious bread COUPLED with a special frosting, I was game. Dollop Gourmet is a ready-to-eat frosting but unlike other offerings out there, has some special properties. This frosting is all natural, gluten-free and completely vegan! The flavor I went for was the hot chocolate frosting which was rich, decadent but not overly sweet- Something rare in many frostings.
Frosting + Bread = Dessert pizza.
Nope.
We had to do one better.
Frosting + Bread made into bread crumbs + natural peanut butter = No bake Butterfinger bites.
WINNING.
These no bake Butterfinger bites need only THREE ingredients to whip up and have the taste and texture of a Butterfingers candy bar! Unlike the candy bar, these are lower in saturated fat, sugar and calories and have a boost of fiber and protein, thanks to the homemade breadcrumbs using Flatout. For my vegan friends out there, simply grind up your favorite (nonsweet) vegan bread and substitute it exactly to make it compliant! These no bake Butterfinger bites and creamy, decadent and melt in your mouth, it’s hard to stop at one….so you may have two. The best part is how quickly they come together- Five minutes of adding and mixing and you are done.
HACK! It’s Halloween this weekend so do something epic and make these and be the popular house which doesn’t get eggs or toilet paper thrown at them for giving poor candy or even worse, APPLES.
Make these three ingredient No Bake Butterfinger Bites and come over and say ‘Trick or Treat.’
I have apples.

Three Ingredient No Bake Butterfinger Bites
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Dollop frosting at room temperature
- 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter melted
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs of choice I used Flatout gluten free made into breadcrumbs
- Sprinkles or cocoa for coating optional
Instructions
- Line a large plate with baking paper and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and frosting and mix well. Add the melted peanut butter and mix until fully incorporated. If mixture is too crumbly, continue adding more peanut butter until a very thick batter is formed. If mixture is too moist, add more breadcrumbs until a thick batter is formed.
- Roll into bite-sized balls and roll into sprinkles or cocoa if desired. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up and enjoy!

butterfingers and twix are my number ones but I’m sure there are 10000000 more i have never tried since america has tons of different variations on chocolate! these little bites are perfect for halloween!
RIGHT? Omg your candy section gives me a headache! 🙂
Wait. Why are you making fun of apples? I would have gladly come to your house for an apple, but now that you’re making fun of them…no apples. You’d probably be the witch that’d give me a poisoned apple, wouldn’t you? Fine, I guess I’ll just settle for a whole box of these butterfinger bites instead!
LOL. I’d cackle at the same time too!
This recipe…WINNING. Seriously, love this idea!!
Thanks so much, Aimee! 🙂
Dear Arman, Butterfingers are one of my favorites! …Don’t remind me though, I have a big bag hidden away for Halloween and I’m trying to keep away from it. These butterfinger bites are right up my alley.I love how quick and easy they are and without all that added sugar. I have to make these. Have a great day my friend, Catherine
OH wow! I hope you treated yourself to one or ten of them 😉
Flatbread turned into butterfinger balls = genius. I always like the candy that no one else wants, but I’ve definitely enjoyed some butterfingers!
oooooooo that is so smart- candy no one else wants. Have my candy corn. SO GROSS.
Yum! Growing up my favorite candy was Butterfinger… bet these taste so similar!
Thank you! 🙂
Butterfinger is one of my favorite candies. I can’t believe this is only three ingredients and was even more surprised when you said Flatout. Isn’t it crazy what you can come up with?
Right? Thanks so much, Megan!
These look amazing Arman! I think mixing up the flavor of frosting would be added deliciousness. Using strawberry frosting could make a PB&J butterfinger (which I’ve always fantasized about)
For Halloween I’m going to be the girl from Finding Nemo with the pigtails and braces who shakes the fish at the dentist. 🙂
Oh yum! That sounds delicious, Ellie!
I would expect NOTHING less of you!
And um, my blog is showcasing my favorite candy from when I was younger today.
Great minds think alike? YEP. And I mean, we are just connected – DUH.
YESSSS.
Pinch me.
Ben and Jerry’s has *just* hit WA, and the prices are insane! $14 for a pint! And my friends were all lapping it up, literally. The best American chocolate I ever had was a one pound peanut butter cup. It was gigantic and amazing.
OMG. I saw that…in the Summer. aka no dice.
I love seeing you get so excited about the candy bars and novelties here!!! Butterfingers are terrific, love the recipe you conjured up.
Thanks Meredith! I saw this delicious one yesterday I NEED to recreate!
So tempting! They look great!
Thank you! 🙂
Arman, it seems you have forgotten the wonders of the Cherry Ripe – a quintessential Australian chocolate bar. Plus, America does not have Caramello Koalas! 🙂
ohhhh YES!!!! Omg and the freddo frogs with strawberry!
