Whether you or someone you know has celiac disease, or you’ve simply run out of flour and don’t feel like heading to the store, it’s both possible AND easy to make delicious gluten-free dessert recipes.
Between my countless gluten-free and no-bake desserts, I figured I would have a lot of flour-free dessert recipes. But when I really dug deep, I realized I had SO many!
So, to make sense of them all, I’ve included a roundup of over 25 of my (and your) favorite flour-free dessert recipes that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Table of Contents
Why make flourless desserts?
- Diet-friendly. Many of the following recipes are not only flour-free, but they’re naturally gluten-free and vegan (or made vegan with a few simple swaps). This means everyone can enjoy them, so they’re perfect for sharing!
- Richer. This may be a hot take, but I find a lot of flourless sweets tend to be richer in texture and more flavorful.
- Fuss-free. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to make a recipe only to find I don’t have enough flour! Luckily, I know I can make a flourless treat if I’m short on time.
Chocolate desserts
We eat a lot of chocolate in my house, so when we’re having guests over, I usually make some sort of chocolate treat that needs to cater to a variety of diets.
- Brownies– Crinkly on top and gooey in the center, these one-bowl brownies are way better than anything you’d get out of a box.
- Chocolate muffins– Unfussy, uncomplicated, and made without gluten, refined sugar, or oil. They’re sweetened with bananas and turn out incredibly moist.
- Protein brownies– Fudgy, rich, and packed with 6 grams of protein per brownie.
- Pot de creme– AKA the ultimate flour-free dessert. It’s basically the best chocolate pudding you’ve ever had, topped with whipped cream.
- Avocado chocolate mousse– You’d never guess what you can make with soft avocados and cocoa powder!
Flourless breads, blondies, and bars
Breads and bars can be the trickiest desserts to make flourless since they rely on flour to rise and become fluffy. Luckily, these recipes use flour-free alternatives to give them the perfect chewy, cakey texture.
- Banana bread– A guilt-free, naturally-sweetened banana bread recipe made with simple ingredients and a touch of (optional) sugar.
- Apple pie blondies– I make these blondies year-round or whenever I happen to be craving apple pie.
- Breakfast bars– Just oats, peanut butter, and bananas are all you’ll need to make the breakfast of champions.
- Sweet potato blondies– Trust me, everyone will ask you what your secret ingredient is!
- Strawberry oatmeal bars– Refreshing, satisfying, and perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.
Flourless cakes
Each of these flourless cakes is made with flour-free alternatives like almond flour or coconut flour, giving you the perfect bite and delicate crumble sans flour.
- Flourless chocolate cake– My family’s favorite flourless chocolate cake. All that’s missing is some vanilla ice cream and fresh raspberries.
- Breakfast cake– A light and fluffy cinnamon-spiced cake layered with cream cheese frosting.
- Lemon mug cake– Full of refreshing lemon flavor and made in under a minute.
- Almond flour cake– Delicately flavored and dusted with powdered sugar, this is one of my favorite naturally gluten-free cake recipes.
- Orange cake– A delicate treat bursting with vibrant orange flavor that’s perfectly balanced by the subtle nuttiness of the almond flour.
Flourless cookies
As you can imagine, I always bring a treat to family functions and get-togethers. Cookies are my go-to when I need something convenient that I can make ahead and know everyone will love.
- Peanut butter oatmeal cookies– Soft, chewy oatmeal cookies that also happen to be free of eggs, dairy, and refined sugar.
- Chocolate chip cookies– I consider myself an expert in chocolate chip cookies, and even my family agrees this is one of my best recipes yet!
- No flour cookies– Easy-to-make cookies with 6 different flavor combinations.
- Coconut flour peanut butter cookies– The coconut flour gives these cookies the perfect cakey texture, while the peanut butter adds tons of richness.
No-bake desserts
We make a LOT of no-bake desserts, which, as you can imagine, are naturally flourless… and delicious.
- Nutella fudge– Easy 2-ingredient fudge that’ll change the way you think of Nutella.
- Dairy-free coconut macaroons– Full of refreshing coconut flavor and ready in minutes.
- Oreo cheesecake– A light and fluffy Oreo cheesecake filling atop a buttery chocolate crust.
- Chocolate coconut balls– If you love almond joys or bounty bars, you’re going to adore these chocolate coconut balls.
